Our Application Delivery team is looking for an experienced Platform Engineer to assist in rolling out and supporting our journey to Continuous Integration and Automation. We are building a new team of engineers that will be responsible for the design, build and maintenance of the business applications hosting platform, with a move to a hybrid on-prem / Azure cloud model.

This is a hands-on role where you will work collaboratively with the development and infrastructure teams to help build, automate and manage the application hosting platform along with building and maintaining tools for deployment, monitoring and operations, and troubleshoot issues in the dev and test environments.

Skills / Knowledge and Experience

  • Work within the team of DevOps Engineers focused primarily on delivering technical solutions for improving the overall quality of application build, deployments, monitoring and alerting, with emphasis on resilience, stability, scalability and security across our lab environments
  • Operate a scalable, highly-available infrastructure suite through the use of configuration management tools and repositories, ensure these environments continue to meet the needs of the development and test teams
  • Support the set up all team environments, source structures etc. during project start up
  • Ensure that the teams design for deployment, passionately working towards automation and elimination of repetitive tasks, bringing your experience in modern tools to help support development teams deliver more effectively
  • Work with Architect and Tech Lead on the adoption of new technologies in to the estate, ensuring that these are shared with other areas and that they align with standards etc.
  • To support the team in identifying issues with code / deliverables
  • Maintain quality documentation of infrastructure and operational/support procedures

Technical Skills:

  • Good understanding of Continuous Integration technologies and approach e.g. TeamCity, Azure DevOps

  • Strong Microsoft Skillset e.g. Server 2008-2016, SQL Server, Active Directory

At Fortnum & Mason we have a new opportunity available in our IT Department as a Senior Business Intelligence Developer. We are looking for someone to take the lead on the design, development and support of business intelligence and analytics solutions that turn data into knowledge.

It will be your responsibility to lead on the translation of business needs, into technical specifications, that enable the design, build and deployment of BI solutions. The Role

The primary purpose of the Solutions Architect (SA) is to determine, agree and communicate fit for purpose technology solutions, in the form of design documentation, which meets the needs of the business, while adhering to the Architecture Framework and the overall IT Strategy.

The SA works closely with delivery teams throughout the change lifecycle to ensure, rather than assure, the right outcomes are achieved.

The SA has a focus on the application and data domains, but must have sufficient knowledge about the infrastructure and hosting environments to effectively work with operations teams. Being a part of a small architecture team, the SA will further help to maintain the Architecture Framework to ensure we have a well-defined application portfolio and road-maps, along with supporting principles, patterns and standards.

  • Research and Innovation work and personal development
  • Admin and Support related activities

Skills / Experience

  • Experienced Solutions Architect (acting in a lead capacity) on a variety of complex projects in a financial/regulated and/or highly complex environment where security is taken seriously
  • Experienced at designing bespoke web-based solutions and integrating with in-house and third party solutions using modern APIs and integration/middleware technology
  • Experienced at creating and taking design documentation through a formal approval process and communicating that design to delivery teams to ensure everyone understands what needs to be achieved
  • Experienced working in RFP processes to ensure appropriate technology solutions are selected, followed by supporting the delivery of that technology in to the business
  • Experienced working with small project teams throughout the entire change lifecycle, from functional and non-functional requirements gathering to service transition, competent to support that lifecycle where required
  • Previous experience in software development and still close to technology
  • Ideally experienced working with Enterprise Architects to maintain and evolve Architecture Frameworks; application portfolios, roadmaps, standards, patterns.

Technical

Previous development background, preferably in Microsoft technologies, e.g.:

  • .Net and C#
  • Web API (REST based APIs)
  • Modern UI frameworks; e.g. React, Angular
  • Databases - Microsoft SQL Server - Schema design and SQL

Up to date experience with modern integration platforms and solutions:

  • API Gateways and ESB platforms; e.g. Webmethods, Mule, AWS/Azure
  • ETL; e.g. SSIS
  • Queuing and Eventing Technology; e.g. ActiveMQ, Kafka
  • Able to design robust and secure APIs using OpenAPI Specification

Experience integrating and deploying to traditional infrastructure services:

Global Insurance Corporation currently seeks a Data Architect / Database Architect to provide strategic and hands-on architectural, design and consultancy in relation to global enterprise wide systems by improving the coherence, quality, security and availability of the organization's data assets through the development and deployment of the Data Architecture roadmap.

You will be responsible for leading strategic data architecture across enterprise level systems by undertaking data modelling, master data management (MDM) techniques, and planning and documenting system architectures. You will provide detailed understanding of data flow across the global organisation, define and implement overall data modelling standards, guidelines, best practices and approved modelling techniques and approaches. Build the logical data models for very large data systems and apply these within a variety of environments including Oracle, SQL Server, DB2, NoSQL (CosmosDB, MongoDB).

As a senior member of the data architecture team you will use your experience of presenting to both very senior execs, and supplier technical teams, adjusting the language and presentation skills as necessary, to get across the key messaging in a clear and concise manner. You will be comfortable working in a strategic and hands-on capacity to deliver data models and architectures within a wide variety of technical environments (on prem/in cloud, AWS, Azure etc) for multiple enterprise systems used across a global organisation. Additionally, you will be able to design solutions in Apache, Spark, and/or Hadoop using Python libraries such as scikit-learn, pandas, scipy, numpy and design Data flow solutions using operating system command languages such as bash or ksh.

We are searching for a Data Architect / Database Architect / Enterprise Data Architect ideally from within the Insurance / Reinsurance sector but other areas of Financial Services. You will have worked as a Data Architect / Enterprise Architect / Solution Architect in a European or global organisation ideally within Insurance, Reinsurance, Pensions, Banking or Financial Services. You will possess understanding or experience of systems integrations and ideally have some experience of Master Data Management (MDM), Logical and Physical Data Modelling, enterprise level database environments and related tools covering a mix of: Oracle, DB2, SQL Server, Redshift, NoSQL and data appliances such as Netezza, Teradata and BI tools spanning SSRS, Business Objects, Qlikview, Cognos or PowerBI. You will be able to design solutions using Apache Spark, Hadoop and be capable of programming with Java, Scala and or (ideally) Python. We do not expect experience to have been gained in ALL technologies. TOGAF qualification desirable, degree level education pre-requisite.
