Up to £85,000 + 5% of salary bonus

This is your chance to work for the leading provider of managed freight exchange services for the UK road transport industry. Established in 2000, this company delivers real-time decision making solutions for logistics and transportation businesses around the world. They are looking for a hands-on Software Engineering Manager to come and support the CTO and manage their development team remotely from the UK. If you are looking for a step up from your current leadership role to help manage 30 developers remotely, whilst also growing out a brand new team in the UK to move a whole platform onto microservices in Java, then this is the role for you!

THE COMPANY:

This company is established now in 5 countries and have over 38,000 active users running over 51,000 vehicles and trading over 1.3 million movements worldwide. They have a platform that allows companies to post what products they need transporting, notifying couriers nearby to accept/decline the job.

THE ROLE:

Your role working as a Software Engineering Manager will be working closely with the CTO to manage the existing development team remotely from the UK, build a brand new team in the UK and help move their existing platform onto a microservice architecture.

  • Architect systems and applicatiosn
  • Coach, develop and mentor engineers
  • Conduct 1 to 1 sessions
  • Writing high quality, clean code in Java 8+ with tools and frameworks like Spring, Hibernate, Maven and Gradle.
  • Implement cloud solutions using AWS
  • Build and design large scale microservices using technologies such as Kafka
  • Create supporting infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines
  • Lead, coach and resource a team of cross-functional engineers

YOUR SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

What your role as a Software Engineering Manager will require:

  • Strong experience using Java 8+ with tools and frameworks like Spring, Hibernate, Maven and Gradle
  • Experience across Streaming processing, event sourcing and CQRS
  • A Passion for leading and coaching teams of engineers
  • Current hands-on coding experience
  • Evangelise the use of automated tests (TDD/BDD)
  • Advocate of agile methodologies
  • Demonstrate and promote positive attitudes and behaviours

THE BENEFITS:

The salary for your role as a Software Engineering Manager is up to £85,000.
