This vacancy is an excellent opportunity to join a highly complex data environment. The current Data Engineering team are processing petabyte scale data from a variety of internal and external sources. The current tech stack in production involves Python, Spark, AWS (Lambda, S3, Kinesis, Terraform) and Kafka. The client is a leading retailer.

COMPANY:
The company has a number of squads associated to the various product streams that generate profit. Whilst each separate product stream operates with a certain degree of autonomy, they have an enterprise wide data lake upon which you will be working. For example they operate high street retail stores in addition to holding a credible banking presence. The scale of data at the companies disposal make it a fascinating data engineering environment to be working in.

ROLE:

  • Managing a team of 10 Data Engineers to deliver projects
  • Data pipeline creation using PySpark
  • Streaming projects utilising Kinesis & Kafka
  • Influencing best coding practices such as Test Driven Development

SKILLS & EXPERIENCES:

  • Commercial exposure to PySpark and AWS
  • Strong communication skills to interact with the wider team
  • Adherence to best coding practices

This is a role for an experienced Data Architect to lead the design and build of a real time data infrastructure for a company that are pioneering the energy industry.

The Company

This company are just over 10 years old and are currently the second largest energy provider in the UK -they were formed to disrupt the energy market and make energy acquisition and use easier and more eco-friendly. They have multiple brands within their group that are focused on different areas of the energy industry, and this sits within their B2B app.

The Role

As the Data Architect, you will:

  • Help build out a better back-end system for the B2B app
  • Lead the design and architecture of the data platform that will fit into this backend
  • Work closely with the C suite to architect and build data products - you will be hands on with the data modelling work
  • Build a payment gateway and integrate data from API's using kafka.

Require Skills & Experience

As the Data Architect, you will have:

  • Extensive data modelling experience, ideally working within a real time data infrastructure
  • Have hands on programming experience, ideally in scala (or Java or Python)
