Our client a leading financial services client in Central London is looking for an experienced Software Development Manager responsible for developing and implementing the technology strategy for each business across the banking & finance division, you will be responsible for delivering the divisions next generation of digital products and solutions.

The Software Development Manager will be pivotal in identifying, prioritizing and delivering, with the business managers and Divisional Director, product development in line with the strategy, as well as work with the Group CIO to remain compliant with corporate security and technology governance.

Responsibilities for this Software Development Manager;

Will partner with each of the clients divisions, developing a roadmap and a consolidated technical architecture to deliver the product strategy of each business that operates in a global setting, creating a division-wide platform where that makes sense. The successful Software Development Manager will manage on-shore and off-shore development teams and be supported by centrally hosted technology platforms and services, as they optimize our product and service portfolio.

  • Assessing, prioritising and delivering pragmatic product solutions to the business units
  • Managing the division's technology and architecture, utilising third-party cloud solutions where appropriate
  • Leading a team of developers and other technology professionals, managing performance and career progression, recruiting as necessary to create a high performance and engaged team
  • Working closely with the Divisional Director and senior management team, as the pragmatic interface between technology and the business to identify opportunities and efficiencies to enhance the division's solutions for customers
  • Identifying, engaging and managing suppliers and partners and acting as the point of escalation internally on service provision
  • Working across the wider technology teams (central; and other divisions) to identify opportunities, share products, tools, and learning.
  • Ensuring the stability and performance of products and services, while remaining compliant with corporate security and technology governance
  • Representing Banking and Finance on company-wide technology matters including technical risk, security, legal requirements and governance
  • Management of the division's technology budget from proposals with compelling business cases through to in year management cost and resource management
  • Technology /Product due diligence and management for acquisitions
  • Ensure projects are delivered to time, quality and budget

Skillset required;

  • Significant tenure in an equivalent role
  • A strong background in managing web development (Microsoft .NET)
  • An accomplished technical architect
  • Strong experience of delivering technology solution in a data-oriented content business
  • Experience managing technology in a multi-product, mutli-channel environment
  • Experience developing and deploying customer-facing APIs
  • Some, and ideally strong, experience of developing and managing subscription platforms
  • Strong experience of integrating and deploying marketing automation and analytics to measure, customise and drive profitable user experience and engagement
  • Some experience of building and working with blended delivery teams (e.g. onshore and offshore development, QA, etc)
  • Deep knowledge of how to design security into digital products
  • Proven experience collecting and refining business requirements and turning them into tangible technical programs
  • Strong program and project management skills
  • Extensive experience managing tight departmental and project budgets
