Technical Team Lead, Front Office (Java), Hands-on

If you're an experienced lead Java developer with strong hands-on technical skills and good leadership experience this position may be relevant to you. It sits within a Front Office project of a leading Investment Banking client of mine.

You will -

• Remain hands-on, working on a front office platform using cutting edge tech - Java, Kafka, Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, etc.
• Lead a small team of developers and work with senior managers in the project
• Take ownership and responsibility for the full development lifecycle
• Experience in the end-to-end design, development and support of financial markets systems
• Have the ability to work and liaise directly with the Front Office, Middle Office, Product Control and various risk functions

Skills & Experience

• Strong Java skills
• Good tech leadership experience
• Any experience in distributed data stores a plus
• Functional programming experience a plus
• Strong knowledge and previous experience in end-to-end design, development and subsequent support of large-scale data processing systems
• Familiarity and confidence working in an agile development environment

The role will sit within the infrastructure team with responsibility for the maintenance and support of the organisations hosting environments, in addition to the building and deployment of market-leading stochastic modelling solutions to the financial services industry from internal test systems to the production deployment. Whilst also providing 3rd line tech support to clients and internal teams where required.

Ideal candidates for this position will have significant experience in a Dev Ops type role, an excellent working knowledge of Linux (Debian) administration and extensive knowledge of building, deploying and running Node.JS applications in a cloud environment.

Required Knowledge & Experience

• 5+ years’ experience in a DevOps type role.
• Excellent working knowledge of Linux (Debian) administration
• Production Kubernetes experience
• Extensive knowledge of building, deploying and running Node.JS applications in a cloud environment
• Docker
• Mongo database
• Advanced SQL Admin skills, MySQL preferred, with experience of Galera cluster a plus.
• A good understanding of Java is advantageous
• Jenkins
• AWS
• OpenNebula
• Git, SVN
• Knowledge of ITIL v4?
