You’ll be rewarded with an excellent salary up to £75k + the potential for bonuses, healthcare and other benefits.  You will travel to customer sites with your colleagues fairly regularly (mainly across the Midlands) so you need to be flexible, although you’ll not be living out of a suitcase in hotel rooms! There’s also a fairly relaxed company culture, with snacks and refreshments being available, along with plenty of team events.

  • Proficiency in one or more of the following: Go, Python, C, C++, Java, Perl, Ruby or shell scripting.
  • Experience with algorithms, data structures and software design.
  • Experience with UNIX operating systems internals and / or networking.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Experience with distributed systems design, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Hands-on experience with debugging and optimizing code, as well as automation.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, drive, and ownership.
  • Coding beyond simple scripts.
  • Solving novel problems from first principles.

I am currently recruiting for a Consultant Engineer with SDN/NFV to join our client for a 12 month assignment. You will be working across the delivery lifecycle from design, implementation and delivery, getting hands-on with SDN, Overlay and Underlay technologies.

Main Responsibilities include:

  • Deliver SDN/NFV solutions into the Key customer’s environment.
  • Follow the client engagement and delivery processes, working closely with key stakeholders.
  • On-site delivery of services including the review or co-creation of high level and detailed design documentation, migration planning, product integration and acceptance, operations guidelines.


What you'll need to succeed

Technical Skills Needed

  • Contrail Networking (in combination with Canonical OpenStack), networking (IP Fabric based on QFX/MX), preferably VNFs (vFW, vEPC).

  • Other OpenStack (Redhat / Mirantis / or other).

  • Contrail Service Orchestration (or other Orchestration), Ubuntu/RHEL, KVM, Hypervisors, Containers, Docker and other Juniper Networks products including vMX, vSRX, vQFX, NFX.

  • Knowledge of underlay/overlay and IP networking and routing protocols.

  • Linux, Scripting (e.g. Perl, Python), Network Monitoring and OSS/BSS/IT integration.
