DevOps Role sought by luxury travel operator.

Contract type: ideally permanent 40-65k

Our Client is a luxury travel operator developing an Artificial-Intelligence-as-a-Service solution for the next generation of leisure. Their full-stack platform is cloud agnostic, highly scalable, and built on patented award-winning and world-leading optimisation algorithms. They utilise cutting-edge technology in IoT, Big Data, AI and ML to maximise user experience and accessibility, improve productivity and minimise environmental impact for our clients. The Role:

Reporting to the CTO, you will carry out agreed operational procedures, including network configuration, installation and maintenance of IT infrastructure for SaaS products. You will support technical review and have a passion to design, develop and implement digital solutions to be deployed at scale. Within this role you will be expected to serve 2nd/3rd line IT functions and support R&D project at the infrastructure level in the areas of IoT, Big Data, Cloud, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. Our ideal candidate will be familiar with the software development life cycle (SDLC) from preliminary system analysis to tests and deployment. Ultimately, the role of the IT administrator is to build and deliver IT infrastructure working closely with Software Development teams, in a genuine DevSecOps environment.

Responsibilities:

. Developing, planning and implementing release management to support continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD)

. Monitoring and managing appropriate access levels to various environments, ensuring a restrictive security model for access to the environments

. Build prototypes and pilots to prove concepts.

. Control and monitor the application life cycle of software-based platform and products (eg, Controlling gated release mechanism)

. Solve technical problems across multiple technologies, developing new methods if required.

. Contribute to a diverse range of assignments for both internal and external clients, including bidding for new work.

. Contribute and manage knowledge sharing within the company and across related communities.

. Use network management tools to collect and report on network load and performance statistics.

. Contribute to the implementation of maintenance and installation work.

. Uses standard procedures and tools to carry out defined system backups, restoring data where necessary.

. Identify operational problems and contribute to their resolution.

. Support full product development life cycle of web-based services.

. Develop flowcharts, layouts and documentation to identify requirements and solutions.

. Write well-designed, testable orchestration procedures.

. Produce specifications and determine operational feasibility.

. Document and maintain IT infrastructure functionality by implementing health monitoring and alerting; ensuring health alerts are managed and dealt with

. Troubleshoot, debug and upgrade existing tools and systems.

. Comply with project plans and industry standards.

. Source, setup and own systems to improve productivity in software development and AI

. Support the creation and operation of API gateways, Proxy Server and similar components of the architecture, which are classed as high-availability'

Experience:

. 2+ years of experience in AWS/GCP/Azure is essential

. Working with Agile Methodologies eg, Scrum or Kanban

. Strong background in Windows/Linux/Unix Administration (ideally via ADAM, Active Directory, LDAP, ADFS)

. Strong experience with SQL and MSSQL/MySQL (NoSQL experience is a plus, too)

. Experience with automation/configuration management using either Puppet, Chef, Ansible, SaltStack, Power Shell, Terraform or equivalent (ideally, blending with software development practices like version control, along the lines of IaaC, etc.) along with containers (docker) and container management (eg, via Kubernetes)

. Ability to use a wide variety of open source technologies and cloud services (eg, Azure, AWS, BlueMix, Holmes etc.)

. A working understanding of code and script (Python, Java and JavaScript)

. Knowledge of best practices and IT operations in an always-up, always-available service (ideally, ITIL certified) including monitoring tools like Kibana, Grafana, PowerBI or equivalent

. Knowledge of Windows enterprise ecosystem (office 365, sharepoint, power BI, TFS, etc), Servers, Networking, HyperV/VMWare

. Qualification in Computer Science (or equivalent) to degree or masters level.

. Written and verbal communication to present complex concepts to multi-disciplinary teams.

Nice to have:

. Container technology, Kubernetes, big data stack, open stack, elastic search

. Familiarity with continuous integration/deployment tools

. Experienced in Python and general application programming

The role of the Software Engineer is vital in ensuring the products we deliver are fit for purpose and meet the quality and standards that our customers expect.

What you'll do:

  • Work in cross-disciplinary feature teams delivering exciting customer driven solutions and high quality software.
  • Showcase excellent interpersonal and communications skills whilst efficiently working across the project life cycle to ensure software operates as intended
  • Work in a highly collaborative way to complete assigned work, showcase progress and address problems that are well defined, complex and often non-routine.

Key Experience

  • Front end development - Enables us to build applications for the colleague & customer. Typically via the creation of the visual interface of an online or digital asset using JavaScript, HTML5, CSS or UI development
  • Back end development - Makes sure everything works well for our colleague & customers and helps us use data in the right way. It is the coding of scripts in web sites and applications that interact with servers and databases so that their functionality is delivered to the end user. Typically we use c#, Mainframe (COBOL/JCL), SQL, Oracle/Unix and JAVA/CICS/DB2.
  • Business Rules – This development brings to life the various functional aspects of our systems to drive interaction between our colleagues and customers and also support our colleagues in servicing customer needs.
  • Agile Delivery - Agile delivery methods encourage teams to focus on collaboration, transparency, continuous improvement and the delivery of the highest value item first. It is useful when going after a complex problem that requires experimentation and continued adaption. Scrum is a key method we use which advocates a series of meetings (ceremonies) and activities known as sprints to help teams deliver change

Working within the Financial Wellbeing Lab you'll play a pivotal role in the next stage of our transformation journey. The Lab’s purpose is to create an industry leading experience to help our customers before, during and after financial difficulty. We'll ensure we help them become more financially resilient and improve their overall financial wellbeing.

We aim to achieve this purpose through improving colleague tools, creating solutions to allow customers to better manage their day-to-day finances, and by simplifying the Customer Financial Assistance systems through an increased focus on Test Automation, DevOps Cloud technologies and Rationalisation.

The role of the Software Engineer is vital in ensuring the products we deliver are fit for purpose and meet the quality and standards that our customers expect.

What you'll do:

  • Work in cross-disciplinary feature teams delivering exciting customer driven solutions and high quality software.
  • Showcase excellent interpersonal and communications skills whilst efficiently working across the project life cycle to ensure software operates as intended
  • Work in a highly collaborative way to complete assigned work, showcase progress and address problems that are well defined, complex and often non-routine.
  • Continually develop with industry leading methodologies in order to advance the direction of Software Engineering in Lloyds.
  • Work with Lab Engineer (& chapter) to ensure platforms and software are built consistently with relevant patterns and practices.
  • Be a strong contributor to the Engineering Communities & Guilds, helping to build the community and building the capabilities of others

Key Experience

  • Front end development - Enables us to build applications for the colleague & customer. Typically via the creation of the visual interface of an online or digital asset using JavaScript, HTML5, CSS or UI development
  • Back end development - Makes sure everything works well for our colleague & customers and helps us use data in the right way. It is the coding of scripts in web sites and applications that interact with servers and databases so that their functionality is delivered to the end user. Typically we use c#, Mainframe (COBOL/JCL), SQL, Oracle/Unix and JAVA/CICS/DB2.
  • Business Rules – This development brings to life the various functional aspects of our systems to drive interaction between our colleagues and customers and also support our colleagues in servicing customer needs.
  • Agile Delivery - Agile delivery methods encourage teams to focus on collaboration, transparency, continuous improvement and the delivery of the highest value item first. It is useful when going after a complex problem that requires experimentation and continued adaption. Scrum is a key method we use which advocates a series of meetings (ceremonies) and activities known as sprints to help teams deliver change

This position will join an existing team working on a forecasting engine dealing with structured and un-structured data. You’ll be co-located with the team in London, working closely with our internal customers, using the lean start-up approach and ScrumBan to accelerate the development of the solution.

Templeton and Partners are looking for a Senior Backend developer for a 9 month contract role in London.

Your Responsibilities

  • Write clean, elegant and maintainable production-level code
  • Write tests for your own code and use test first approaches (TDD) to develop your code
  • Participate in code reviews
  • Work on data science and data engineering related programming tasks
  • Participate in ScrumBan Ceremonies (e.g. Standup, Retro, etc.) and Continuous Improvement activities
  • Self-organize (coordinate and allocate tasks) with other members of the cross-functional team (team size: 7), considering several constraints (priorities, technological restrictions, WIP, people’s availability, etc.) when picking tasks
  • Develop the flask (minimal JavaScript) front-end for the application
  • You will be expected to spend a significant portion of your time collaborating with customers and the PO developing features according to their needs, collaborating with other developers, occasionally preparing for and attending long workshops with our customers, contributing to discussions about strategy, processes, participating in discussions about choice of technology, etc.

Your Skills and Experience

  • At least 5 years’ experience as a back-end developer
  • Expert in Python
  • Experience working in a DevOps environment
