Lead Java Engineer // £80,000 - £110,000 // Liverpool Street, London

Pre-IPO start-up, Fintech, solving some of the most challenging and interesting problems around data to cater for the likes of Monzo and Iwoca.

You will be joining one of the fastest growing Fintech startups in London - already past the point of scrambling for funding and clients.

Working with the CTO you’ll be evolving their SaaS platform to continue disrupting the financial world. You will be involved in the design, build, and deployment of your code straight through to production in a TDD and Clean Code focused team.

If disrupting an industry, working with like-minded engineers and building reliable codebase excites you then do not hesitate!

Requirements:

  • Commercial experience of Java, Spring Boot and Microservices
  • Understanding of OOP, functionality and concurrency with Relational Databases, NoSQL and Graph data storage
  • Knowledge of Frontend with ES6+ JavaScript libraries (ideally React)
  • Experience working at Scale on resilience, reliability and vision of platforms
  • TDD, Pair Programming and Refactoring mindsets
  • Cloud Architecture with AWS including EC2, Lambda, S3

Bonus points:

  • Knowledge around containers like Docker / Kubernetes / Terraform
  • Understanding of Cloud Security
  • Any knowledge on AWS Athena, Data Lakes or Google BigQuery
  • Java Struts and JSP (ability to strangle them out)

My progressive client in London is looking for aSenior DevOps Engineer/ DevOps/SRE/Software engineer/AWS/Kubernetes/Linux specialist to join their forward thinking organisation. They are looking to scale a DevOps model; where you will be one of 2 initial engineers on site, with the idea of building the team aorund you.

This would suit someone who has worked in a software engineering capacity, but has moved in to DevOps methodologies and has experience with Linux, AWS, Docker, Kubernetes and C++.

The candidate needs to be confident to work independently, but ultimately be willing to be involved in growing a team to deal with increase in demand. Leadership experience would be a huge advantage to this role, as there will be a need for you to scale the team over coming months.

Key Skills

The following skills and knowledge would be ideal (as many of the following as possible ideally):

-Very strong Linux Redhat and centos administration
-Security fundamentals, CISbench, firewall, SSH and rsyslog
-Ability to Test, build and deploy code based on Git repositories is essential
-Experience of working Agile teams
-Collaboration tools such as slack, Jira and confluence
-VMware and virtualisation skills
-Experience using automation tools such as Ansible, Puppet or Vagrant
-Able to deploy and manage monitoring and logging tools such Elasticsearch, Prometheus, AlertManager or Grafana.
-Understand continuous delivery Jenkins pipeline CI/CD
-Build and maintain the cloud platform infrastructure as code using terraform
-Containers and Redhat Openshift
-Experience of working in Azure or AWS
