We currently have a fantastic opportunity for an IT Manager to join our client based in Leeming Bar.  Our client is a leading Manufacturer who are keen to appoint an IT Manager to join their IT function.

Job Title: IT Manager

Location: Leeming Bar

Salary: Circa 34k DOE

Job Type: Permanent 

Purpose of the role:

As the IT Manager you will support the site users of factory and office systems whilst ensuring the smooth running of all IT services within the site. You will contribute to the development of the local IT function with leadership and direction given by the Head Office support team.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Responsible for maintaining the smooth running and operation of local IT Services and minimising production down time by use of preventative measures
Responsible for providing support of traceability systems and for factory floor based bespoke applications where appropriate I.E computerised product labelling systems
Responsible for the day to day support of IT Services and ensure that the site has in place a secure and resilient infrastructure
Support all IT hardware, software, and production based systems within a very fast-paced and constantly changing environment
Management of Backup, Antivirus, Proxy, Monitoring and Patching
Contribute to developing and testing disaster recovery plans in line with business policy
Maintain a list of issues and ensure that they are managed and cleared in a timely manner using our internal management systems and processes
Commissioning of desktop and laptop hardware
Installing and testing operating systems and software applications as advised by the Birmingham Support Team
Communicate with Birmingham IT and other on-site department managers
Out of hours support

The successful candidate will have proven experience within an IT support background, database technologies; I.E MS SQL Server, be highly analytical with a technical skill and must be demonstrable through experience of introducing IT Services.

You will be proactive, dynamic, motivational, collaborative and able to deliver results in a constantly changing environment. A team player with ability to be self-sufficient, you will possess strong planning and organisational skills along with the ability to be adaptable/ flexible to changing business demands. Qualifications in ITIL are also preferred.

It is essential that you hold a full UK driving license with access to your own car.

Business Intelligence (BI) Analyst Developer - Power BI, SQL, ETL - Cambridge to £50,000

As the Business Intelligence (BI) Analyst / Developer you work across the full business intelligence suite, providing end to end business intelligence solutions as well as working with Power BI and other leading BI platforms, creating dashboards to empower the end user. You will understand the database systems in use and know how to manipulate data and generate insight and information.

The Business Intelligence (BI) Analyst / Developer will need to be comfortable working with some of my client's key customers to understand their goals, support solution roll-out and identify requirements to feed into their product Roadmap. You have a commercial awareness and an interest in the Business value delivered by effective Business Intelligence, and you will have an interest in the capability to apply predictive techniques / machine learning to data.
The successful candidate will be degree educated - Computer Science, Engineering, Maths, Statistics or equivalent and will demonstrate the following core skills and experience:

* Experience with any leading Business Intelligence platforms
* Experience with Power BI would be highly desirable
* Strong data analysis skills using SQL
* ETL processes including knowledge of data warehousing strategies and theories
* Experience with Data pipelines and ETL tools
* RDBMS skills
* An understanding Dimensional modelling in integrated data sets or DWH
* MySQL, PostGres and Mongo data experience.
* Experience working in an agile environment
* Proactive interest in the BI best practice and latest techniques and approaches.

Experience with any of the following will be a distinct advantage:
* AWS services and tools like Glue, Data Migration Service, Quicksight, Redshift, DynamoDB and Aurora.

The role of the Software Tester / QA Engineer will involve working within a predominately manual testing environment through the full testing lifecycle. The desktop software you would be working on is Microsoft .NET based and developed using C#. The main application is WPF based utilising an SQL Server database and you would be using Microsoft Test Centre, Azure Dev Ops and YouTrack.

You would be expected to:

  • Testing & quality assurance of company software products predominantly desktop applications but occasional mobile and web based as well
  • Pre & post release, including the recreation of software issues, documentation of issue and post fix testing.
  • Preparation of release notes.
  • Creation, maintenance and development of testing, scripts and procedures.
  • Creation and maintenance of user, support and installation documentation.
  • Liaising with Development team to progress any software issues found and reported.

The ideal candidate for this role will be working within a testing role at the moment and if possible have an industry recognised qualification within software testing.

You will have:

  • At least 2 years industry experience as software tester.
  • Experience of working within a manual environment but any experience within automation would be beneficial.
  • The ability to write test scripts / plans
  • Experience of testing software within a .Net environment would be highly beneficial.

As you will be working within a team environment and liaising with the development team then your communications skills, both written and verbal, must be very strong.
