A client of mine based in London is looking to on board a Software Development Team lead on a permanent basis, they are a Fin-Tech start up with major backing and are now in a position of growth leaving them with multiple requirements in the Development space.

About the Role

The Development Team Lead will be an agile leader from a technical background who is responsible for successful delivery management and oversight of software development projects. This is an excellent opportunity to utilise your delivery expertise whilst also adding technical value and mentorship to your team in an innovative, fast paced start up environment.

You will work closely with the product team and solution architect to manage the successful agile delivery of our software and empower the team to deliver high quality, secure and scalable cloud native products.

The role will suit someone with a technical background, who is comfortable leading teams of developers and enjoys working on innovative projects with leading edge technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Leading software development teams in delivery of web based applications.
  • Owning task management, working closely with the development team to ensure timely delivery of high-quality software solutions.
  • Promoting modern development practices, code reviews, CI/CD, test automation, documentation review.
  • Running agile project teams with a mix of remote and onshore resources.
  • Building a strong team culture where developers feel valued and empowered to meet their full potential.
  • Helping with recruitment and retention of developers and managing vendor relationships.
  • Managing the technical operations of a client facing software product, monitoring of cloud infrastructure, scaling, performance and cost control.


Skills

  • A detail orientated technical leader with recent hands on experience in software development delivery, although the role does not require coding, sufficient technical knowledge is required to be able to direct the development team.
  • Must have recent web application software development lifecycle experience, leading teams of offshore software developers (EU).
  • Must have excellent task management skills, within an agile approach, using tools such as Jira or Asana.
  • Experience with any combination of the following technologies and techniques: cloud application services, REST APIs, React/Node JS, .Net, Java, SQL and NoSQL databases, Python data pipelines, orchestration, CI/CD, AI, ML.
  • A good understanding of modern web application architecture design patterns (MVC).

    * Testing, setup and configuration of monitoring/alerting tooling (OpsView, Nagios, ELK, Graphite, Grafana, Zabbix, etc…)
    * Scripting languages such as Ruby, Python, Go and Java within an existing, production codebase.
    * Experience working in multidisciplinary agile teams.
