We are a specialist digital skills college training and developing diverse higher-level apprentices into fantastic roles in the tech sector and transforming their lives in the process. We work with over 30 of the most cutting-edge companies on the planet. They choose us because of the amazing quality of our teaching, learning and support.

We are growing rapidly. We have nearly 250 apprentices on roll from a wide range of backgrounds: 75% are recent school leavers, though the oldest is 42. Apprentices enrol on one of three degree apprenticeships: software development, data analytics or a more generalist tech consultant programme all of which are validated by the Open University. All of our apprenticeship training is currently delivered from our Whitechapel campus, just minutes from the tube and train station.

We are looking to recruit enthusiastic professionals who are keen to take on a new challenge and demonstrate their skills at teaching, sharing their expertise across a range of tech related topics with the next generation of digital pioneers. We will invest in your development so that you can develop your skills and change the lives of thousands of young people with a passion for tech desperate to break into the sector.

At Ada we are committed to ensuring our apprentices and their employers are supported throughout their apprenticeship to the highest standards. To achieve this, we are looking for fantastic skills coaches with technical knowledge to manage a case-load of apprentices, providing guidance and support ensuring successful completion of their apprenticeship and progression into full time roles.

Within the role, coaches will maintain regular contact with apprentices & their employers providing continuous guidance throughout the apprenticeship, ensuring the students stay on track and are ready for their End Point Assessment.

Coaches will typically have a case-load of apprentices and will be expected to travel across our employers, organising and running progress reviews with apprentices & employer. This is a unique opportunity to work with a wide range of employers and apprentices, understanding their strengths and areas for development and helping them develop their skills and work effectively within their organisations and teams.

Nature of the role: Full time roles available

Responsible for: being an effective supporting and coaching a caseload of apprentices

Salary: £28,000 to £31,000 dependent on relevant experience

About the role

Working on a range of strategic projects, you’ll be involved in developing web/mobile applications and integrating digital services across all areas of the University’s activities.

This is a particularly exciting time in our development as we plan to move our applications and services into AWS (Amazon Web Services). By joining as we design our approach, you’ll have the opportunity to influence its implementation and, although you may not have direct experience with AWS, we’re keen to hear your ideas about how the range of services offered by AWS can be used to deliver innovative services.

We support our staff to learn new skills and as such would like to actively encourage applications from people who have the right attitude and aptitude even if you don’t think you can ‘tick-off’ every tool or technology we’ve listed below. For example, we’ve had developers join the team with backgrounds in Python, Java and C#.

About you

Alongside a good understanding of modern approaches to application and data architecture, you’ll have a keen interest in development best practices and the tools that support it. In particular, we’re keen to hear from individuals with experience in some of the following areas:-

  • An modern programming language/framework such as Node.js, Java, C# or Groovy
  • Experience in architecting web-based applications
  • Taking a lead role in delivery, coaching and mentoring
  • SQL and design of relational and non-relational databases
  • Development and design of REST/GraphQL APIs
  • A passion for Agile methodologies and concepts

Job Title: Senior Automation Tester

Barclays are hiring a talented driven individual within Risk, Finance and Treasury for a Senior Automation Tester working hands on with Java.

What will you be doing?

This role is to lead a small team of test analysts and be responsible for their end to end testing work relating to the implementation of the new application
Owning the test plan and allocating scripts appropriately across the team
Scheduling review sessions between UAT, Development and testing teams
Responsible for planning and owning the Unit, SIT and Regression testing cycles throughout the delivery schedule
Ensures systematic problem solving, where options are evaluated and decisions align with the values
Adapts to changing requirements, re-prioritising and changing course as necessary, supporting their team in making any necessary changes
Ensures the team’s decisions are made with consideration of the short and long-term impact on key stakeholders.
Communication to key stakeholders/groups to keep them informed of key changes and potential impact of the release outcome, through face to face demos and key stakeholder meetings 


What we’re looking for:

Test Execution E2E
Hands on Java experience
Automation experience E.g. Selenium, Gherkin, Cucumber
Testing Skills including Test Automation skills
Ability to effectively test Enterprise web application including associated batch processes


Skills that will help you in the role:

Past experience with custom build applications
Experience and/or knowledge of the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) delivery methodology
Experience of the Barclays Agile Change Lifecycle (BACL) delivery methodology;
Knowledge of Barclays and its internal structures.
