2020 looks to be another big year for DevOps. By 2023, experts expect the DevOps market to triple in size compared to 2018. This brings a lot of positives: Cutting edge technology, New certifications and Variety. However how many opportunities can offer all 3 to a competitive standard? This role working with an award winning digital consultancy can.

The roles are part of an ongoing recruitment drive with a focus on building a strong DevOps team, but importantly a DevOps culture throughout the business. You will be tasked with working on client site with various members of the business to deliver digital solutions on an enterprise level. In terms of clients, you will work closely with public sector clients such as Ministry Of Defence, HMRC, Ministry of Justice and The Home Office.

Cutting Edge Technology:
My client prides themselves on being able to use cutting edge technology to deliver ground breaking solutions. To do so they look to use the right tool for the job. This could be working with cloud platforms in AWS and Azure whilst using Kubernetes and Terraform. As a consultant you will be given the appropriate training and upskilling to work effectively on client site.

New Certifications:
Within your first 6 months you will look to achieve 3 certifications:
Kubernetes Administrator
AWS/Azure Certified DevOps Engineer
AWS/Azure Certified Developer

Variety:

But enough about the company and the role. This, like any good advert, should be about you and what you need to bring to the table in order to progress this application. The two fundamental concepts of DevOps are continuous Integration and continuous delivery. Therefore my client has highlighted the following skills to facilitate CI/CD.

Containerisation - Experience with Docker is essential, whether that be homelab or commercial. Experience with Docker Swarm/Kubernetes is a plus but not essential.

Cloud - AWS/Azure

Configuration Management Tools - Experience using at least one of the following: Puppet, Chef, Terraform, Ansible

In return, you will benefit from a highly networked and very flat structured organisation. This means that people with an Entrepreneurial self-managed approach can really contribute to the strategic direction of the practice and be heard. In terms of package, my client can offer a competitive salary (between £35,000 - £75,000) alongside a non-contributory pension (6%), private health care and 1 Day remote work.
