What the role is all about…
This is an exciting opportunity for an aspiring trader to join Epoch’s longest standing and most successful desk in the London office, as part of a global team. Ideally we are looking for someone who has had some exposure to the prop trading environment, understands the persistence and dedication it takes to succeed in the financial markets and who has a passion for learning and developing their existing skill set. The role is a junior position which involves a combination of managing our semi-automated trading strategies and making discretionary trading decisions under the guidance of our experienced trading team. You will also have the opportunity to apply your skills to optimise current trading models as well as have input in improving the trading strategies as the desk deploys them into new markets.
What your main responsibilities will be…
- Observing and operating existing semi-automated trading strategies
- Making discretionary trading decisions within the guidelines of our risk framework
- Production trading responsibility for portfolio of existing trading models
- Reacting appropriately to economic news releases that affects market prices
- Compiling, analysing and maintaining the performance records of established and new trading systems
- Using qualitative & quantitative insights to enhance existing trading models
To be successful in this role, these are the essential skills you need…
- Some experience in the financial markets
- Highly analytical mindset; superb problem solving skills and structured thinking
- Highly driven and self-motivated
- Flexibility to learn and adapt to new markets
- Ability and willingness to follow procedures accurately
- Honest and open communication skills with a desire to work in a team environment
- Python scripting experience or a demonstrable desire to learn
Ideally, you have the following qualifications and experience…
- Previous experience in prop trading environment
- 2:1 or higher BSc in a numerical discipline (mathematics, engineering, physics or similar)
