?Head of Commodities Index Technology

The Commodities business is continuing to expand its product offering of indices composed of commodities. This role is for a team leader for a newly formed Commodities Index technology team. The ideal applicant will be a hands on developer with considerable experience and a track record in Commodities Index construction, trade lifecycle and risk. Previous line management experience is an advantage but not essential.

Team/Function Overview

Commodities Operations and Technology is a part for the Global Macro technology organization within Citigroup.  The Index trading technology team is located across locations with a primary focus in London and Pune. This role is for a technical lead for Index trading technology team. The role is based in London and requires both technical team leadership and strong business knowledge. The role also includes relationship management with the traders and multiple support partners (such as legal, compliance), operations, development and support teams to ensure that we are all delivering a quality solution in line with the overall business and technology strategy.

Role / Position Overview

The role is to manage and drive the technology initiatives for the index desk from London working with Trading and Support partners. The successful candidate will be responsible for the definition of the approach and the management of delivery within their teams and with other teams.

Key Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will:

  • Be hands on in development of core systems that are in java/.net and hosted on Linux/cloud and not just contribute, but drive/lead adopting cutting edge technology.
  • Be a subject matter expert with a track record in the index and exotics business, including index composition, risk management booking and associated trade lifecycle events.
  • Establish strong relationships with the global business stakeholders, Technology team and drive/develop and implement complex projects.
  • Ensure transparency of project deliveries to all stakeholders
  • Partner/collaborate with Production Support team to improve stability and scalability of systems and providing tools that help users.

Criteria/Qualifications

Knowledge/Experience:

  • Experience in J2EE and working knowledge of.Net development, working knowledge in Oracle 11
  • Global Financial Markets exposure, strong knowledge of the index business (ideally based on previous experience with commodities)
  • Extensive experience in developing, defining and delivering trading and risk systems
  • Strong leadership experience leading teams.
  • Good communication skills in handling varied business stakeholders and ensuring project transparency
  • Test-driven development, Agile continuous integration, adoption of jenkins/sonar
  • Knowledge of DevOps and tools

  • Prioritise and manage a pipeline of work with developers, digital marketers and stakeholders
  • Support web users providing 2nd line support
  • Become expert with Sitecore enterprise CMS platform
  • Manage Google Tag Manager account
  • Produce reports on performance, sales, customer feedback, the user journey

It is likely that the successful applicant will have upwards of 2 years experience in a closely related field.

It would be of significant interest if applicants have experience in some of the following:

  • An understanding of HTML, CSS, Javascript, and Server Side code.
  • Google Analytics, Tag Manager, SEO and web analysis tools.
