Main Responsibilities

• We will help you learn how to use our Big Data platform - HPCC - through a combination of training courses, self-learning and peer support

• Contributing to the design of new features and solutions

• Developing and delivering features across the full stack (including use of modern PHP frameworks, front-end frameworks, HPCC and other tools)

• Contributing to the quality assurance effort, including use of test automation tools (such as Cucumber) and Continuous Integration tools (such as Jenkins)

• Working closely with the product owner and project management to deliver timely products and enhancements

Essential Skills and Attributes

• Strong and enthusiastic technologist, able to demonstrate a broad technical knowledge 

• Good PHP development skills using modern PHP frameworks (such as Zend, Laravel or Lumen)

• Understanding of modern development Build, Test and Deployment pipelines

• Experience working with relational databases such as MySQL

• Excellent oral and written communication skills

• Active participation in the development community

The overall aim of this KTP project is to Research, Design and Develop a smart e-Commerce system (E-business Hub) to integrate G&Z's own info systems with 3rd party systems in real time. This system will offer significant cost efficiencies and create a Big Data pool offering opportunities to add value to G&Z through retaining/enlarging and opening new markets.  It is expected that the system can be used to achieve the operational efficiency and business automation by leveraging cutting edge technology advancements and innovation.

The Software Engineer (KTP Associate) will need to have a wide spectrum of both technical skills and knowledge and business awareness, and will deliver the 31-month project through:

  • Planning, coordinating and managing the company’s IT provision

  • Researching, designing and developing a number of smart algorithms for data mining to reduce manual/overhead procedures and thereby automating tasks to achieve cost-efficiency, reliability and production efficiency

Strategic Direction Setting:

  • Leads the evolution of the Data Management function, ensuring the right capabilities, experience and skills are available to support the business strategic agenda including the coordination of an appropriately balanced pursuit of enterprise data management systems
  • Understands, advocates, and supports the enterprise's business and IT strategies
  • Working with the Business Data stewards ensures the clear ownership of the data definitions (meta data), data integrity and data architecture.
  • Support the business with the strategic monetization of data.
  • Understands, advocates, and supports the enterprise's business and IT strategies
  • Leads the identification and analysis of enterprise business drivers to derive enterprise data management and compliance with the EU Data Protection regulation (GDPR).
  • Analyzes industry, technology and academic trends to determine their potential impacts on the enterprise
  • In conjunction with the GCIO Leadership team supports the development of the IT Strategy, Enterprise Data Management and associated roadmaps.
  • Supports the due diligence related to M & A projects.
  • Evaluates 'Emerging Technologies' e.g. Big Data. Hadoop et al, and ensures there is a supporting Roadmap and makes recommendations for investigation and development of prototypes.

Functional Management

  • Ensures regular reviews/audits of the 'Data Quality', 'Data Integrity', 'Data Retention & Archiving'.
  • Monitors Regulatory compliance with enterprise data policies and educates business unit leaders and service managers on compliance efforts and reports/escalates any data breaches internally and where necessary to the regulators
  • Creates a data use and security awareness program to customize communication tools and campaigns for each business unit and services group
  • Monitor and maintain the quality of established enterprise master data across product and customer sources
  • Support and enable other IT and business teams responsible for management and support of master data
  • Understands the trade-offs required to manage the different levels of data risk tolerance and risk exposure across the organization and balance this with risk mitigation investment
  • Sets usage and access policies for information sharing on internal and external platforms
  • Understands the business view and develops mechanisms to proactively sense adoption and usage patterns of consumer technologies by end users, aligning policies with requirement.
  • Leads and facilitates the creation of governing principles to guide practical, secure and maintainable data management solutions for the enterprise
  • Create methodologies for converting enterprise data from legacy data models to new data models as needed
  • Guide business areas in identifying the data management skills and processes they need to proactively manage their data assets.
  • Establish master data management policies, standards, processes and procedures
  • Ensures that the optimal governance structure and compliance activities (such as handling waivers) are associated with information use and compliance

What do we need from you?

  • MBA or similar postgraduate business qualification
  • Experience leading an enterprise data management office
  • Demonstrated executive level competencies, specifically leadership and communication
  • Strong business acumen; understands the key financial drivers and dynamics related to growth and an organisations revenue goals
  • More than 6 years of leadership experience, including time managing shared services functions
  • Experience of leading high - performance teams towards the successful attainment of challenging goals

  • Monitor and maintain the quality of established enterprise master data across product and customer sources
  • Support and enable other IT and business teams responsible for management and support of master data
  • Understands the trade-offs required to manage the different levels of data risk tolerance and risk exposure across the organization and balance this with risk mitigation investment
  • Sets usage and access policies for information sharing on internal and external platforms
  • Understands the business view and develops mechanisms to proactively sense adoption and usage patterns of consumer technologies by end users, aligning policies with requirement.
  • Leads and facilitates the creation of governing principles to guide practical, secure and maintainable data management solutions for the enterprise
  • Create methodologies for converting enterprise data from legacy data models to new data models as needed
  • Guide business areas in identifying the data management skills and processes they need to proactively manage their data assets.
  • Establish master data management policies, standards, processes and procedures
  • Ensures that the optimal governance structure and compliance activities (such as handling waivers) are associated with information use and compliance

What do we need from you?

  • MBA or similar postgraduate business qualification
  • Experience leading an enterprise data management office
  • Demonstrated executive level competencies, specifically leadership and communication
  • Strong business acumen; understands the key financial drivers and dynamics related to growth and an organisations revenue goals
  • More than 6 years of leadership experience, including time managing shared services functions
  • Experience of leading high - performance teams towards the successful attainment of challenging goals

What will you be doing?


• Requirement study for arriving at set of data attributes/elements for Model Building (MRDs).
• Data analysis, mining and derivation of Model Data attributes.
• Define, Design and implement Machine Learning Flow
• Build a knowledge base of the application within the organization.
• Inputs to the functional document creation.
• Create solution as per Barclays standards
• Socialise solution with relevant stakeholders
• Oversee detailed design, build & testing activities
