.NET Developer - Full Stack - DevOps - Contact, based in Abingdon, Oxfordshire

Min 3 month contract - Inside IR35, Via Umbrella

As part of this initiative we are recruiting Developers to work on multiple projects under the guidance of our Principal Developers. The developers we recruit must have a clear understanding of DevOps methodology, including the cultural aspects and using Azure DevOps. They will need to fit into the new culture where we embrace creative thinking, innovation, experimentation, willingness to learn on the job with a focus on continuous improvement both in the work we do and self-development.

Key responsibilities/accountability

Assist the Development Team in the production of code as required by the Software Delivery Director. Follow QA procedures as defined by the Development Team. Gain knowledge and understanding of all Group business sectors.

*Skills in developing, deploying, unit testing (including the development of test scripts and automation of these scripts) & debugging cloud applications
*Knowledge of key Cloud Service Providers (including Azure) and the capabilities that they make available to developers to optimise delivery of solutions
*Understanding of application lifecycle management
*Ability to use continuous integration and delivery pipelines
*Ability to code to implement essential security measures
*Skills in writing, correcting and debugging code modules using the languages listed in the skills required section below
*Understand standard systems development lifecycle processes and apply methodology effectively on projects
*Applies knowledge of industry trends and developments to improve productivity.
*Adheres to defined coding standards
*Establish responsible deadlines and personal work plans
Knowledge, skills and abilities
Essential: Excellent skills in the following development areas:
*C# and the .NET Framework
*ASP.NET MVC
*JavaScript and jQuery
*HTML and CSS / Bootstrap CSS
*TSQL for SQL Server
*Entity Framework
*Experience with XML / XSLT
*Experience with Microsoft Azure
*Experience with XAML and Xamarin would be an advantage
*Source control (Git, Azure DevOps)
*Work with other team members to achieve performance targets
*Use of Agile & DevOps methodologies
*A commitment to keep up to date with developments in technology
*The ability to work to deadlines
*Containerisation (Docker, Azure Container Instances, Kubernetes)
*Understanding of data backend options and their characteristics (SQL and NoSQL; SQL Server, Cosmos DB, Cassandra, etc).
Optional:
*Service Oriented Architecture
*Experience with React/Redux front ends
*Understanding of streaming technologies (Azure Event Hubs, Kafka)
*Familiarity with big-data ideas (data lakes, distributed architectures and computing)

Your new role will be to set up & lead the End to End automation Testing for their new applications using your technical expertise. The role will involve a mixture of on-site and off-site working and will be automating test scripts to run over night but also within an Agile environment. You will need to be an evangelist for everything Agile and be confident and competent in providing hands on technical support when required.

What you'll need to succeed
To be considered for this role, you will need to have experience within the following:

  • Leading a team within an Agile environment
  • Be competent / have good understanding of the Jira framework
  • If you have a good understanding of the following tech stacks would be desirable but not essential: Jenkins, .NET or C#
  • Be proficient in communicating to stakeholders and non-technical members of staff
  • Happy to work on-site when required
  • Have a proven background working as a Technical Test Lead
