Job Title: Senior Java Developer
Location: Radbroke, Knutsford


Barclays UK Tech function, has a Clearing Hub division which is the corner stone of clearing by image. This is an initiative to allow images of cheques to be a legal instrument for paying people. This removes the need for paper to be transported by secure vehicles on the road between branches and the central clearing centre. A further benefit in using mobile image capture is to allow customers a new channel for recording cheque payments.


As a Senior Java Developer, you will contribute to the mobile image clearing project by writing code to specification for multiple applications / products during the build phase of the SDLC. You will also be seen as a lead in this function, so having good teamwork skills and an eye for mentorship would be brilliant.


What will you be doing?


• Write and test code thoroughly and liaise with business users to ensure delivery is fit fur purpose
• Develop technical understanding of a component or sub-component within an application /product, providing support for technical queries, live incidents and problems
• Ensure technical integrity and quality of application is maintained across their lifetime
• Responsible for your own work right through from deployment to customer acceptance
• Help impact assess business requested change to the Clearing Hub Platform
• Provide technical guidance and support to multiple offshore technical delivery teams on the projects.


What we’re looking for:


• Proven track record coding in Java
• Exposure coding in Oracle PL-SQL
• Jira / Confluence or BitBucket (or other code repository technologies) exposure
• Architecture knowledge with Micro Services.

Where will you be working?


You will be working at our technology hub in the North West, located at Radbroke Hall in Knutsford. Application Hosting is the organization which runs, builds and maintains the Bank's middleware IT infrastructure. The Commodities business is continuing to expand its product offering of indices composed of commodities. This role is for a team leader for a newly formed Commodities Index technology team. The ideal applicant will be a hands on developer with considerable experience and a track record in Commodities Index construction, trade lifecycle and risk. Previous line management experience is an advantage but not essential.

Team/Function Overview

Commodities Operations and Technology is a part for the Global Macro technology organization within Citigroup.  The Index trading technology team is located across locations with a primary focus in London and Pune. This role is for a technical lead for Index trading technology team. The role is based in London and requires both technical team leadership and strong business knowledge. The role also includes relationship management with the traders and multiple support partners (such as legal, compliance), operations, development and support teams to ensure that we are all delivering a quality solution in line with the overall business and technology strategy.

Role / Position Overview

The role is to manage and drive the technology initiatives for the index desk from London working with Trading and Support partners. The successful candidate will be responsible for the definition of the approach and the management of delivery within their teams and with other teams.

Key Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will:

  • Be hands on in development of core systems that are in Java/.net and hosted on Linux/cloud and not just contribute, but drive/lead adopting cutting edge technology.
  • Be a subject matter expert with a track record in the index and exotics business, including index composition, risk management booking and associated trade lifecycle events.
  • Establish strong relationships with the global business stakeholders, Technology team and drive/develop and implement complex projects.
  • Ensure transparency of project deliveries to all stakeholders
  • Partner/collaborate with Production Support team to improve stability and scalability of systems and providing tools that help users.

Durham Professional Services has a requirement for an experienced Automation Tester, this is a senior role and will involve having responsibility for our client's automation test team.

This role will be to provide expert and professional automation test analysis services, including the creation and execution of automation packs for regression testing for both web and native iOS applications.

  • Ensure automation packs cover the required functional areas to high quality standards, based on prioritisation by the business.
  • Manage relationships and interactions with the different business units as well as IT and Project Management to understand and implement precise functions and requirements.
  • Exposure to a fast-paced collaborative project environment with work-packages differing in size and timescale so the ability to juggle tasks simultaneously and complete these to strict deadlines is essential.

Durham Professional Services has a requirement for an experienced Automation Tester, this is a senior role and will involve having responsibility for our client's automation test team.

This role will be to provide expert and professional automation test analysis services, including the creation and execution of automation packs for regression testing for both web and native iOS applications.

  • Ensure automation packs cover the required functional areas to high quality standards, based on prioritisation by the business.
  • Manage relationships and interactions with the different business units as well as IT and Project Management to understand and implement precise functions and requirements.
  • Exposure to a fast-paced collaborative project environment with work-packages differing in size and timescale so the ability to juggle tasks simultaneously and complete these to strict deadlines is essential.

It is expected that applicants should have:-

  • Experience in creating and executing automated Test scripts
  • Experience with Selenium (Java), Jenkins, Eclipse, Cucumber, Gherkin
  • Knowledge of automated iOS app testing
  • Proven ability to translate business test scenarios into gherkin format
  • Schedule and report on automation execution
  • Ability to interact professionally with a diverse group, business users, business analysts, developers and UX designers
  • Business sense
  • Pragmatic and flexible
  • Ability to work to tight time scales
