We are ETPA (Enterprise Technology Production Assurance), an advanced and dedicated team staffed with a diverse skill set.  The ETPA Systems Engineer combines traditional systems admin skills along with advanced application support, automation, and troubleshooting skills to enable rapid resolution of critical issues with CME Group's electronic trading systems amongst many Clearing Applications.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for building and running large-scale, massively distributed, fault tolerant, and latency sensitive applications that run CME Group's business and provide our customers with extremely fast access to our markets.  This individual will work on systems that must achieve a unique blend of ultra-low latency performance, the capacity to seamlessly facilitate the busiest trading days during times of turmoil or surprises in the world economy, and rock-solid reliability and integrity, all while undergoing rapid release cycles.  It's a very critical and exciting role where every day is different, challenging, and rewarding.

Responsibilities:

  • Works closely with our Technical Operations and Business Operations teams on critical issues by evaluating the problem, proposing and implementing resolutions, and partnering with other teams (DBAs, Networking, Development, etc) as needed for the resolution.
  • Solves problems creatively and communicate effectively.
  • Deploys in-house and 3rd party applications with a keen focus on automation and hardening.
  • Identifies and resolves performance issues and bottlenecks within the specified SLAs.
  • Collaborates with our Global Information Security team to provide secure solutions.
  • Operates as an outstanding team player, works well with others, and possesses a positive attitude.
  • Ability to provide effective and timely solutions in a very fast-paced environment where multitasking and attention to detail is critical.
  • Self-motivated and great under pressure.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Requirements:
  • Bare metal Kubernetes on Docker administration
  • Istio and Envoy are a big plus
  • Linux scripting, and application troubleshooting
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities
  • Strong automation scripting skills (Powershell, Python, Bash, etc)
  • Solid understanding of Windows operating systems
  • Traditional networking, particularly the ability to troubleshoot issues that involve the network, interpret packet captures, and diagnose connectivity issues.  Multicast experience is a plus
  • Container and service mesh networking and troubleshooting
  • Configuration management and change management experience

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Minimum 3+ years of experience in technical support.
  • A Bachelor's/Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related discipline; or equivalent combination of education and relevant proven work experience that is required for the specific job title.
  • Technical skills supporting 3rd party applications including .Net/C#, Redis, Tibco FTL, Kafka, Docker, Jenkins, and Chef.
  • AWS or relative cloud experience.
  • Working experience in a Financial industry is a plus.

We're on the hunt for a NOC Analyst who will work as a part of the Global IT team with an aim to exceed departmental and individual targets.

NOC Support Analyst Responsibilities:

- Responsible for 24/7 monitoring of live systems and performing numerous administrative duties at the Harrogate Data Centre.
- To provide day-to-day monitoring and reporting on all platform and network devices, supporting the platform and network infrastructure through all locations & ensuring it is performing to defined customer SLAs.
- Maintain & follow on-line process documentation, highlighting corrections & updates where applicable.
- Participate in and support the operations shift rotation, ensuring adequate coverage is provided.
- Complete site-facilities tasks as required.
- Perform daily health checks / capacity checks in accordance with Ops Team schedules, escalating when required.
- Ensure that technical support callouts are completed in line with processes.
- Ensure that out of hours problem records are completed in a timely manner and to the required quality.
- To ensure that any overnight problem records are followed up by the relevant service lines, with any outstanding issues dealt with to the satisfaction of the group.
- Ensure daily checks of the machine room are completed, carrying out actions that lead to rectification of any problems that occur.
- Ensure that customer calls are dealt with in an expedient and efficient manner, providing the necessary courtesies to the caller.
- To be conversant in the escalation procedures and ensure that upon discovering discrepancies that these are highlighted to the senior IT Operator & SD Service Manager.
- Provide support to management and business units, as requested, when a business disruption occurs.
- To provide IT operational support for all IT services largely based on Unix (AIX and Linux), and Microsoft Windows.
- To work on a dayshift, plus 24x7 shift rotation when required, in support of the production systems.

NOC Analyst Requirements:

- Strong knowledge of and experience with SCCM.

  • Production experience managing relational databases. We run MySQL and have databases with hundreds of millions of rows, perform routine online schema changes and periodic DR tests. You’ll help us to maintain that high standard as we migrate.
  • Knowledge of cloud design patterns, and architectures and debugging. We adopt a multi-account, multi-VPC strategy for maximum isolation between different services and separation of operational responsibility.

  • Problem solving and performance optimisation in a cloud environment. Highly distributed, scalable services bring unique challenges and we’ll be exploring state-of-the-art solutions to diagnose things that fail or slow down.
  • Production experience managing relational databases. We run MySQL and have databases with hundreds of millions of rows, perform routine online schema changes and periodic DR tests. You’ll help us to maintain that high standard as we migrate.
  • Knowledge of cloud design patterns, and architectures and debugging. We adopt a multi-account, multi-VPC strategy for maximum isolation between different services and separation of operational responsibility.
  • Communications skills - we're all constantly learning and like to encourage the sharing of knowledge across our engineering team
  • Security awareness - you understand the importance of security best practices and know how to establish a robust set of defences

The Role Responsibilities

This role is an exciting opportunity to be part a large multi-asset eTrading development team.

A successful candidate is expected to:
  • Design, build and implement pricing systems.
  • Work with teams spread across infrastructure, development, support, test and the front office.
  • Participate in the development of all aspects of product delivery including design documents, functional specifications and component building.
  • Make contributions to the evolving architecture.
  • Conduct issue and risk identification, management and resolution.

This is a key position which will play pivotal role in the development of the FX platform.

Responsibilities/Deliverables:
  • Take responsibility for the system component design and development.
  • Ensure developed code has significant coverage by automated tests.
  • Build relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Adhere to SCB development practices.
  • Manage application support handover to global teams.
  • Maintain and enhance the code base after project go-live.
  • Build relationships with teams inside/outside FM, Infrastructure units etc.
  • Advocate delivery excellence, ensuring application release quality.
Our Ideal Candidate

Qualifications/Skills:
  • C++14/17 skills, knowledge of the STL, experience of the Boost libraries is highly desirable.
  • Development on Linux using gcc, gdb, git and associated debugging tools.
  • Knowledge of all aspects of software design, development and deployment.
  • Working knowledge of FX products, pricing and real time risk management.
  • Working knowledge of the design of scalable, high availability, supportable distributed architectures.
  • Working knowledge of messaging and communication protocols including TCP, UDP, multicast, and data encoding
  • Working understanding of SQL and simple DDL operations.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, ability to interact with business representatives.
Desirable but not essential:
  • Experience of any of: multi-threading, low-latency, high-throughput, high-resiliency applications
  • Familiarity with middleware messaging frameworks, ideally Solace
