The opportunity
Queen Mary University London are looking for a bright, motivated and enthusiastic IT Manger/Team Leader with a service oriented ethos to join the Data Centre Services team to help maintain and support essential enterprise IT. This is a key role within the Data Centre Services group based at Mile End who are responsible for providing a diverse range of services to staff and students.
The successful candidate will lead the team and support the general running of the Data Centre Services group.
The role
You will lead a team of five, manage it and provide third line support to end users and advice to team members. You'll also provide valuable contribution to architectural design helping to create flexible, scalable and future proof technology solutions.
Who you'll be
You should have a degree (or equivalent) in an IT related subject and have experience of systems engineering and team leadership in a modern Data Centre environment covering the majority of the following technical streams;
- Office 365 with an understanding of related protocols.
- ADFS
- Active Directory
- Installation and maintenance of modern server operating systems (particularly Windows Server, CentOS or newer).
- Shibboleth and UK Federation.
- IIS and Apache web services.
- Scripting/programming in at least one language.
- Databases (particularly SQL Server, MySQL and PostgreSQL)
- A expert understanding of general protocols and standards TCP/IP, HTTP, HTML, DNS and other common network protocols and how they relate to services listed above.
- Experience of Linux would be advantageous.
- A good working understanding of virtualization (VMware) would be an advantage
