The Ashdown Group has been engaged by a growing telecommunications provider, to assist in their search for a Billing Analyst.

The Billing/Tariff Analyst will provide expenditure analysis, support the IT Director in keeping the Billing System in synchronisation with company tariffs, whilst monitor competitors tariffs and make recommendations to the Board regarding any improvements. The Analyst will be responsible  for cost reduction, therefore minimising charges, maximising credits and managing connections/disconnections from the most appropriate Network tariffs to minimise costs.

To be considered for this role, you must have previous experience working within a billing/pricing environment.

The suitable candidate will be IT literate, including Microsoft Excel to an advanced level (pivot tables, VLookup and ideally macros) ideally VBA and MS SQL. The ideal candidate will be educated to Degree level, with previous experience of working within a pricing/billing environment. The suitable candidate requires a mix of person and project management skills, coupled with wide experience assisting in problem escalation.

The purpose of this role is to produce professional analysis documentation, spreadsheets and reports. You will need to be able to present these findings and explain the technical information to those at all levels within the business, customers  and suppliers. With this in mind, you MUST have demonstrable experience authoring management information and analysis, with the confidence to formally present your findings.

You will maintain and troubleshoot call-based billing systems, and ideally be experienced in Microsoft SQL Server, fixed line voice and data wholesale pricing / retail tariff's, and mobile voice and data whole sale pricing / retail tariff's. Furthermore, you will be accountable for billing assurance; providing internal support for handling relevant queries.

We are looking for a capable and enthusiastic experienced data analyst at the Senior Associate level. The role would involve developing complex data models and subsequent visualisation and reporting dashboards. Experience in using both data preparation and blending tools, such as Alteryx, as well as industry leading visualisation tools, such as Tableau or Power BI, is essential.

You will get exposure to different clients and challenges and the opportunity to put recommendations and improvements into practices.

Core Responsibilities & Attributes
  • Work with client facing stakeholders from the BRS business to establish the right technology approach to solving business problems. You will need to quickly understand the specific business context so that you can provide valuable challenge and guidance. Experience in BRS would be valuable, though not essential

  • Significant experience authoring workflows with Alteryx (and/or other data blending and preparation tools), creating robust data models capable of supporting complex visualisations and analytics

  • Strong understanding of data management and relational database concepts, data cleansing, dimensional modelling, and measure/metric calculation

  • Ability to leverage scripting languages as needed to operationalize processes (eg. VBA, javascript, python) Expert in Tableau and/or Power BI. Be able to produce meaningful visualisations for both reporting and management dashboarding. Must have significant experience in dashboard vs report design, including best practice design and the creation of custom visuals -- the right candidate knows whether you might use a bar chart or a scatter plot and whether a set of data points helps inspire a decision

  • Proficient at requirements gathering and stakeholder management, an eye for commercial opportunities, good communication and organisational skills.

  • Appetite to learn and apply technologies.

  • Be accountable for the appropriate scoping, quality and timely delivery of your projects; engaging with relevant stakeholders to communicate developments and manage issues as they arise.
