About Us:

Finanum is an early-stage Fintech/Proptech startup whose mission is to ensure every individual is able to realise their dream of owning a home. We are building a digital platform helping millions of aspiring homeowners in the UK to save for their homes in a way that is smart, simple and dynamic. The journey of saving for a home is mindboggling and difficult. We take the stress out by telling them what they can afford in their desired area and timeframe, how much to save, and by providing tools and personalised nudges to help them achieve their target.

To date, we have built a functioning web-based prototype, and are now looking to expand our core team and further develop our product for launch.

We are looking for…

A Tech Lead who can provide sound technical leadership in all aspects of our business on a day-to-day basis. You will be part of our core team, initially part-time with a view to going full-time.

You would be…

  • Devising technical strategy and managing a technical roadmap.
  • Designing, developing and managing web/mobile platforms from MVP to a platform supporting thousands of users. You will have a broad remit covering platform architecture, cloud-based infrastructure, databases, IT and information security, user experience design, coding and code reviews, product development, and user testing.
  • Selecting external technical partners, and over time building and managing a team of internal technical talent.

You would ideally have…

  • A solid background in software development - knowledge in system architecture, software design and programming, with preferable proficiency in .Net (C#), React/Redux, and HTML/CSS.
  • Some experience managing projects and technical talent/teams.
  • Knowledge of the current technologies and emerging trends.
  • An ability to build products based on customer needs.
  • 5+ years of proven experience or similar role. Relevant experience either working in a startup, Fintech/Proptech or building a customer-facing product is a plus.

This is for you if you…

  • Are seeking a new challenge and an opportunity to learn and grow.
  • Want to be part of an innovative start-up with an important mission and great ambitions.
  • Are looking to have direct impact by shaping our product and future.
  • Are open to flexible compensation packages i.e. part salary/part equity, and flexible working arrangements.

Our mission:

To change the way the world shops, so that customers and merchants get more for what they have.

A little about us:

Purple Dot allows shoppers to treat themselves to items they really want, without hunting for discount codes or rummaging through sales racks. All we ask in return is patience, shoppers typically wait for seven days while we confirm the discount with the retailer. We call this new way to shop 'non-instant shopping'.

For retailers, non-instant shopping opens the opportunity to convert more shoppers in a shorter timeframe than a traditional sales cycle while maintaining control of what volume to sell at a discount.

The founders, John Talbott and Madeline Parra are serial entrepreneurs — having sold their previous startup Twizoo to Skyscanner in 2017. Purple Dot is backed by leading US and Europe VCs and angel investors including Connect Ventures, Tiny.VC, Paul Forster — founder of Indeed.com, and Alex Roetter — previous SVP of Engineering at Twitter.

We work in a lovely office with free drinks and snacks and have a desk here just for you. We offer a friendly and flexible work environment.

A little about you:

We're looking for someone to help bring the Purple Dot brand to life. To take an existing brand identity and then translate throughout our website, partner websites, social, marketing materials, and through graphics.

You'll have experience designing for the web (and sometimes not for the web) using existing brand visual and verbal identity to create web layout and graphics. Someone who understands how to put together a consistent brand image through multiple mediums and build up a design language. Most importantly, someone who wants to have fun and move fast!

What You'll Do:

Work 2-3 days per week in London, we are flexible with how you want to split the time over the week.

  • Work with founding team on iterations of our consumer (www.purpledotprice.com) and b2b web products.
  • Take an established brand identity and product requirements and produce responsive, dev ready, website layouts and graphics.
  • Use our existing brand identity to build out the Purple Dot design language.
  • Work with the founding team on sales collateral (presentations) to tell the story of Purple Dot.
  • Design engaging emails to communicate with customers of the status of their order.
  • Design newsletter templates to engage our newsletter subscribers.
  • Support our social media manager by producing graphics for social.
  • Be scrappy. We are small, but fun and sometimes we wear multiple hats.
  • Be comfortable with change. Day-to-day priorities will change as we learn and evolve in the market.

What You've Done Before

  • A compelling portfolio showing
    • A range of clean UI solutions on the web.
    • A consistent brand across multiple mediums.
    • Illustrative graphic designs to bring a brand to life and used as explainers.
    • Sales and marketing materials (emails, sales decks, ads, handouts etc).
  • Proven experience delivering responsive designs for websites to be shipped to production (bonus if this was in ecommerce).
  • Knowledge of graphic design software like Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Sketch, InDesign and other
  • Worked with (or as a) frontend developer(s) to develop an understanding of the limitations of front-end technologies.
  • Proven experience delivering brand consistent sales and marketing materials.
  • Familiarity with HTML and CSS (React experience a big bonus).
  • Bonus: experience doing some web based motion animation
