The Opportunity

Join the PwC New Ventures team in Belfast as the first in-house designer, to shape and craft products and services across a wide range of industries and problem domains. We are strong advocates that design is much more than how it looks, it is about who uses it, the value it brings and fundamentally how it works. On client missions you will be part of a small cross functional team with the goal of exploring and validating a new business venture, from product research and innovation, new market opportunity validation, customer desirability, existing product/service redesign, and technical invention. This is an opportunity to shape and define companies, their products and services. At PwC you’ll get to work with entrepreneurs as well as the largest, most recognisable clients in the world. Missions range from designing innovative digital products within the tech industry to influencing future new markets.

About The Role

As our product designer you will be an integral part of the ventures team, participating from early stage workshops through to the continuous shaping of a product right up to delivery. Our goal is to transform complex problems to testable possible futures determining what is going to matter. The role is wide ranging, as such you will have the opportunity to craft how the new product or service works. You will work directly with clients as part of a small multifunctional experienced team, crafting how a user interacts with a product or service. Depending on the mission, this will require conducting research, problem definition, concepting, creation of design assets to test hypothesis, interaction design all the way to front-end design implementation (HTML and CSS). We believe a job title is not considered the final definition of who you are, but the starting point.

Experience

As our first in-house designer an essential criteria is extensive experience with at least one design tool (Sketch, InVision, Zeplin, Adobe Creative, etc.) for creating your original designs. We expect a significant experience in at least one domain of design, this can be anything from advertising, branding, product, graphic, user interface design, web, etc. This is a product design role, focusing primarily on leading visual and interaction design. We would like the successful candidate to have experience of:

• Leading the visual design and interaction design
• Collaborating closely with clients and Product Engineering teams
• Proficiency with design and prototyping tools - open to using your tools of choice
• Are skilled in explaining your work, process, and decisions to cross-functional stakeholders
• Architecting the content strategy which includes designing creating and delivering

Desirable criteria

• Leading workshops and design sprints
• Conducting user research
• Front-end design implementation (CSS and HTML)
