Front End Developer, Fareham, £25-50k, Boutique UK Leisure organisation, join and help build a new team.

Front End Developer (New Team, New Project)
Fareham, Hampshire.
£25000 - £50000 + Benefits

Please note my client cannot offer VISA sponsorship for this position.

Your new company
I've been engaged by a boutique leisure business to recruit front and back end Developers to work on a re-imagination of their core back end system using .Net Core technologies. It's an award-winning company that have carved out a niche and that will be moving into the mid-size organisation in 2020. You'll be based from their head office, close to both Southampton and Portsmouth, and commutable by car or public transport from most of Hampshire.

Predominantly these are hands-on positions, but the first hires onto this project, hence the flexibility from junior to senior developer. With this in mind you must be comfortable working in a standalone role to begin with, but in the knowledge the team will grow this year offering a route to Lead Developer for the right individual.

Your new role
The existing system will stay in place but all development you work on will be looking at transforming it into a modular, high-performance platform which enables bespoke customisation for the end user. This isn't just a process of modernisation, it's looking at scalable expansion as the company target new markets and product lines. That being said they want people bought in for the long term, so you can have a genuine measurable impact here on their growth.

You'll be looked at to handle the UX/UI presence of the business. There's both client facing and customer facing ecommerce sites which require reimagining, plus the tweaks and customisation of the companywide intranet. You will be comfortable managing multiple projects as it's a constantly evolving market, so the dev resource needs to be the same.. reactionary and supportive of an Agile way of working.

What you'll need to succeed
We need someone proficient in JavaScript/HTML/CSS and with exposure to UX/UI tools and processes. More specifically Angular has been used on the front end, but future tooling and tech is somewhat open to the successful candidates as this will be to join a new team.

The wider stack is Microsoft, so understanding of C# .Net / .Net MVC / .Net Core will serve you very well, as will any work consuming API's.

We're looking for high-level responsive design across web, desktop and mobile platforms, and a confidence in speaking to users and effecting change.

What you'll get in return
The company offers great flexibility in terms of working hours and they've retained a lot of the 'family feel' perks such as paid for meals, local discounts and team outings. There's free parking there or a shuttle bus for easy access. On top of this It's a modern office space which is open plan and where cross team collaboration is the norm.

About Us

At Hometree, we want to build the best smart home business in the world by redefining how customers interact with their homes.

Homeowners are now putting more and more technology into their homes so that they can make them safer, more comfortable, and better for the environment.  The problem for homeowners is that the more cameras, solar panels, energy storage batteries, and other connected devices they put into homes, the more complicated they get.  Our mission is to make homes much easier to manage for homeowners through our proven ability to link skilled tradespeople with best in class technology and customer service.

We have started on our journey by offering a suite of insurance and maintenance products to homeowners & landlords. We provide breakdown cover on a range of essential household items such as heating, electrics, and plumbing.  We are disrupting a £2bn market which has large incumbents providing a terrible experience. We are growing 30% each month, and we are the best-rated Trustpilot provider of these services in the UK. This is an excellent springboard for the next stage of our journey - to conquer the rest of the home!

We are a five-year-old business backed by some of Europe's leading Venture Capital firms and other very influential angel investors. We have an incredibly diverse, experienced & passionate team with track records in some of Europe's leading tech start-ups, private equity, consulting, investment banking, and much more.

The Role

Our team’s mission is to build the most secure, efficient, and most trusted platform for providing home services; including a customer control centre for managing contracts, and a dynamic routing and subcontractor management system. We work as a small, tight-knit team, make quick decisions affecting all Hometree tech products, and have the flexibility to learn and develop with whichever tools are best for the job, be it architectural choices, Machine Learning methods, or choice of low- or high-level languages.

At Hometree you’ll have a lot of responsibilities from day one.

  • Plan, design, develop, and maintain AWS web applications and software architectures
  • Building proof-of-concept mock-ups and rapid prototypes, leading to product ownership
  • Mentoring other developers
  • Work collaboratively across the business in a multi-functional role

Desired Skills:

  • JavaScript, HTML, SASS, LitElement or React
  • Great written and oral communication skills
  • Node.js

Apply if you are:

  • A team player who works well with others including those outside the engineering team. Innovation - you need to be open and willing to adopt new ways of working. Our processes are constantly evolving and we always look to take a lean approach.
  • Customer-focused - You should always be thinking, “What can I be doing to deliver the most value to our customers?”
  • Passion, energy, focus and enthusiasm for both the role and our business.
  • Willing to grow - an ability to work quickly with a love for constant learning and personal development.

Behaviours we value as a business

  • Radical Candour - Respectful but direct honesty
  • Ownership - Own your results without complacency
  • Obsessed - Customer obsessed, everything else secondary
  • Trust in Teamwork - Ding the right thing, even when no one is watching
  • Speed - Fast, data-driven decisions and results

Our Commitment to you

We are working hard to create a representative, inclusive and super-friendly team, because we know that different experiences, perspectives and backgrounds make for a better workplace. And that creates a better experience for our customers. Hometree doesn’t discriminate on the basis of race, colour, religion or belief, gender, national origin, age, sexual orientation, marital status, disability or any other protected class.

Hometree’s a workplace where you can be yourself. Dye your hair purple. Take your laptop to the sofa. Whatever helps you feel comfortable and happy at work. We want to do whatever we can to help you grow in your career (and make enough space for a fulfilling home life too).

We are 10 minutes from Kings Cross, with the nearest Tube station being Highbury & Islington. This is your opportunity to join one of the fastest-growing European startups' in the home services sector backed by world-leading venture capitalists and angel investors. To set you up for success we will provide you with a MacBook Air, provide a company Breakfast every Thursday, drinks every Friday at 5pm along with quarterly company-wide social events. To top it off, all employees receive a Perkbox subscription with a host of perks.
