About the team
PwC’s Debt & Capital Advisory team provides capital structure advisory services to companies in a wide range of situations, from raising new debt finance to fund transactions and growth, to advising on the renegotiation of existing debt facilities in stressed situations.
The Debt & Capital Advisory team comprises over 25 people; focused on our principal areas of Private Equity Coverage, Capital Markets and Firm-originated work.
As part of its growth planning, the team is growing significantly in the regions and is now looking to recruit an additional manager based in Manchester and covering the North of England. The team can offer the successful candidate experience across a wide variety of engagements with significant opportunities for self-development. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a dynamic and fast growing team which is a key strategic focus within Deals and across the wider regional business.
Our work typically requires advice on:
- Evaluating business plans for robustness and sensitivity.
- Capital structure analysis.
- Financial modelling and debt capacity analysis.
- Assessing financing products and markets.
- Managing ongoing relationships with potential funders.
- Organising and managing funding competitions.
- Preparing management presentations and information memoranda.
- Assessing financing offers and negotiating terms and conditions.
About the role
Some of your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Managing detailed financial modelling to test alternative capital structures and financing options.
- Leading financial and commercial analysis of financing offers and proposed transactions.
- Preparing management presentations and information memoranda.
- Managing the review of business plans and management assumptions, including managing multiple team members who report to you
- Utilising your experience to drive business development initiatives, including attending pitches with potential new clients
- Project managing debt raising processes and corporate finance transactions, being PwC’s main point of contact with the client, the lender(s), legal advisors and other stakeholders
Essential skills and experience
We are looking for individuals who in all cases have a strong academic track record. A professional qualification is welcome. Applicants should be able to demonstrate the following personal attributes:
- Excellent relationships in the corporate finance market, with particular focus on local lenders and Private Equity sponsors
- Experience working with (or ideally for) a lender, including an ability to understand and explain credit processes in detail
- Detailed understanding of banking documentation and legal structuring of debt finance
- A detailed knowledge of leveraged finance lending and a strong understanding of other banking products
- Professional services / client facing experience, working as a financial advisor to regional clients, including owner managed and private equity backed companies
- Experience of financial modelling, or the interest and aptitude to learn this core skill quickly.
- Commercial curiosity and demonstrable interest in corporate finance.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and confidence when interacting with others, coupled with the ability to deliver and to work effectively in teams.
- Good commercial judgement, strong analytical skills, an ability to think laterally and a focus on attention to detail.
- Ability to grasp complex commercial issues quickly, and to work accurately under time pressure and manage multiple commitments.
