Our Senior Desktop Support Engineer role in the Birmingham area is a superb opportunity for someone who is passionate about furthering improving their existing project migration, deployment, floor walking, troubleshooting and network skills while delivering excellent customer service up to VIP level and is keen to continue to increase their desktop and laptop, hardware and software knowledge. Within the Senior Deskside support role, the day to day duties will involve general desktop and laptop support. You will also be responsible for the roll out of Windows 7/10 devices. In addition, you will also be conducting data transfers as well as hardware break fixes.

Successful candidates will

  • Be located within a commutable distance of Birmingham
  • Previous hardware deployment and rollout experience
  • Experience with hardware break FIX
  • Windows XP, 7 and 10
  • Be able to take the lead on project roles
  • Various deployment tools – IT hardware and software
  • Experience of preparing machines for migration and configuration
  • Microsoft server experience
  • Experience with Active directory
  • Good Time management skills

Your new role

  1. To provide high quality ICT services to managers, staff and external customers within a culture of openness, participation and performance
  2. Take ownership of support tickets and follow up the status of problems and communicate updates and progress to customers in a timely manner until resolution
  3. To provide 2nd / 3rd line problem diagnosis and technical support to all users and maintain the efficient running of infrastructure and future technological improvements
  4. To maintain and develop systems already in-place and ensure secure and safe operations.
  5. To look at ways to continually improve company ICT solutions and customer satisfaction including keeping up to date with current technology and attending technical forums
  6. Maintain relationships with 3rd line external technical support
  7. To carry out system admin tasks on all infrastructure and networked systems. To ensure operational procedures are in place, maintained and followed as approved by the Technical Support Manager
