Infrastructure / Web Applications Engineer

  • £454 per day Outside IR35

The Application Engineer will provide level 2 (and where required level 3) support to TfL's environments (business critical services for TfL (e.g. asset management, ERP, commercial off the shelf, in-house developed software, transport maintenance and planning systems, online services etc.), proactive identification of issues, fulfilment of Service Requests and problem management in accordance with the agreed service level targets. Out of Hours support, support of weekend or out of hours maintenance or release activities will be required for certain applications.

The key responsibilities are as follows:

  • Responsible for executing support activities to enable fault resolution within the agreed SLAs to ensure the restoration of the services within the team's portfolio
  • Accountable for managing Incidents, problems and Service Requests assigned to themselves.
  • Responsible for Daily Health checks / proactive working / responding to system alerts within agreed service level targets to minimise any disruption to customers and / or users
  • Accountable for recommending service and process improvements for the handling and correction of defects in TfL's live environments to reduce costs and drive less calls to the Service Desk
  • Accountable for escalating service incidents to higher severity when appropriate to ensure on-going operation and delivery of service within SLAs

Experience:

Your new role

TPR need a solutions architect to help out with a number of projects, these include;

  • Explore business problems and develop end to end IT solutions to achieve TPR (ToM) business objectives
  • Work with stakeholders to define the overall IT Solutions Architecture, which includes using a more data driven approach aligned to the TPR corporate strategy and Business, Data and Enterprise Architectures.
  • Contribute towards the development and implementation of TPR's IT and Data strategy using "Cloud First".
  • Continuously improve architecture methodologies, processes and standards including 'best practice', standards and policies pertaining to TPR's solutions and their architecture and development
  • Interface with Change & IT SMEs plus 3rd Party Suppliers


What you'll need to succeed

Two of the main projects include the migration of on-prem infrastructure to Azure and the implementation of Dynamics 365. Experience of these two solutions and Microsoft technologies as a whole would be very useful. Full details are;

  • Specialist knowledge of IT Solutions Architecture models, technology and data management together with SDLC development methodologies and IT processes (Agile, Waterfall, ITIL).
  • Broad knowledge of modern architecture patterns e.g., microservices, data platform, their suitability, complexities and alternatives as well as Web, Cloud and Database principles and architectures and specifically Microsoft technologies, including Azure, SharePoint, Dynamics 365 CRM, .Net, Sitecore, Logic Apps, Power Apps, Power Automation (Flow), SQL Server and Enterprise Architecture plus BI/MI experience, ESB/ETL, Data and Cyber Security and SaaS, PaaS plus IaaS.
  • Previous experience of developing, documenting and communicating pragmatic, business centric solutions to solve critical business challenges.
  • Previous experience of defining architectural direction and architecture and harnessing innovation for business benefit.
  • Capability to expand single site IT service designs into a multi-site solution (infrastructure / networks / application)
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Azure Stack relating to IT Technical Architecture models, Web and Cloud technology, DevOps, Software Development (SDLC), and data management methodologies plus IT processes (Agile, Waterfall, ITIL).
  • Knowledge in relation to all new and/or major Microsoft Cloud technologies in support of projects authorised through IT governance.

Based in the East Midlands, as the Information Security Manager, you will hold responsibility for identifying and managing the firm's risks around information/cyber security and data protection.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience of managing information/cyber security risks, ideally within a legal practice environment.

Practical experience of dealing with rights of individuals and managing incidents caused by individuals rather than systems would be desirable.

The salary offered for this role will be £60k - £70k, dependent on experience.

Main duties and responsibilities

  • Management of the Information Security Management System (ISMS) including ISMS objectives to ensure compliance with ISO27001, cyber essentials plus, any other accreditations and client requirements
  • Review, implement and embed information and cyber security policies

  • Managing the annual internal audit program and conducting internal audits

  • Identify and implement remediation actions required to close internal and external audit findings in a timely and effective manner

  • Working with IT to ensure planning and execution of security testing is effective in identifying key security risks

  • Responsibility for managing client audits/questionnaires relating to information/cyber security and for understanding the impact of client requirements around information/cyber security, ensuring appropriate escalation for approval

  • Responsibility for managing the due diligence around information/cyber security and data protection in relation to suppliers and third parties to ensure compliance with ISO27001, other accreditations and client requirements

  • Incident and breach management involving information/cyber security and data protection including escalation, mitigation, reporting and lessons learnt

  • Completion and sign off of Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) ensuring that security and data protection is appropriately considered addressed and escalated, where appropriate

Person Specification

  • Knowledge of ISO9001 is desirable

  • Strong understanding of security controls to evaluate their effectiveness and the ability to make recommendations to reduce/control any risks identified

  • Strong understanding of assurance methodologies and testing protocols

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral and the ability to explain and advise succinctly on technical issues to non-technical individuals

  • Ability to create and manage key relationships within the business

Practical experience of dealing with rights of individuals and managing incidents caused by individuals rather than systems would be desirable.

The salary offered for this role will be £60k - £70k, dependent on experience.

Main duties and responsibilities

  • Management of the Information Security Management System (ISMS) including ISMS objectives to ensure compliance with ISO27001, cyber essentials plus, any other accreditations and client requirements
  • Review, implement and embed information and cyber security policies

  • Managing the annual internal audit program and conducting internal audits

  • Identify and implement remediation actions required to close internal and external audit findings in a timely and effective manner

  • Working with IT to ensure planning and execution of security testing is effective in identifying key security risks

  • Responsibility for managing client audits/questionnaires relating to information/cyber security and for understanding the impact of client requirements around information/cyber security, ensuring appropriate escalation for approval

  • Responsibility for managing the due diligence around information/cyber security and data protection in relation to suppliers and third parties to ensure compliance with ISO27001, other accreditations and client requirements

  • Incident and breach management involving information/cyber security and data protection including escalation, mitigation, reporting and lessons learnt

  • Completion and sign off of Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) ensuring that security and data protection is appropriately considered addressed and escalated, where appropriate

  • Data protection compliance including managing risks with data owners, completion and review of Records of Processing Activities (ROPAs) and Legitimate Interest Assessments (LIAs)

  • Responsibility for responding to data subject access requests and other rights of individuals

  • Ensuring that effective training on information/cyber security and data protection is delivered in accordance with the R&C training plan and use of all channels to raise awareness to embed ISMS and security controls

  • Responsibility for managing the agenda and actions and chairing our Information Security Group

  • Collaborate with other functions within the business owners to provide expert advice on information and cyber security related activities and perform security assessments to ensure that the controls and security requirements are being implemented

  • Preparing reports for Information Security Group, Risk and Compliance Committee and the Exec to help ensure that they have a clear understanding of key security risks

  • Conceptualise and consideration of proposals for implementation ISO27701

Person Specification

  • Proven working knowledge of ISO27001 and GDPR

  • Information security and/or Information Technology industry certification (eg CISSP) strongly preferred

  • Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) qualification is desirable

  • Knowledge of ISO9001 is desirable

  • Strong understanding of security controls to evaluate their effectiveness and the ability to make recommendations to reduce/control any risks identified

  • Strong understanding of assurance methodologies and testing protocols

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral and the ability to explain and advise succinctly on technical issues to non-technical individuals

  • Ability to create and manage key relationships within the business

  • Strong analytical skills with a pragmatic “problem-solving” approach with an ability to influence

  • Has the confidence to take responsibility and work independently while keeping others informed of progress and escalating issues where appropriate

  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to plan, organise and prioritise tasks and projects to meet deadlines and adapt quickly to changing priorities

  • Willing to spend time as required in the firm’s Birmingham, Exeter, London and Manchester offices

  • Proven team player

  • Ability to remain calm, controlled and resilient when under pressure

Occasional travel may be required to other offices around the UK.
