DevOps Engineer
Base Location

This is a fantastic opportunity for a DevOps Engineer to join a global leader in technology services and digital transformation.

As a DevOps Engineer, you will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, alongside other DevOps engineers, application architects and developers, working within project teams delivering to clients. Implementing cloud solutions on which application development and hosting can occur and providing technical expertise through to fruition.

The Role:

  • Supporting the creation of proofs of concepts for clients in response to their requirements and demonstrating how the cloud deployments can be used to provide secure, cost effective, quicker solutions for application hosting and DevOps capabilities.
  • Supporting the writing and adding input to bid proposals to design cloud solutions
  • Putting together delivery timescales implementation and cost estimates, based on proposed architecture/design and risks.
  • Building and supporting the implementation of cloud infrastructure to deploy DevOps pipelines that enable developers to self-serve for most operational tasks and achieve rapid change.
  • Presenting the rationale of findings in simple, engaging and easy to understand business terms to a diverse group of partners.

Essential Skills

  • Recent experience of defining and building architectural solutions.
  • Knowledge and experience in one of the following cloud providers, Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud Platform, Azure (with professional qualifications in one).
  • Recent experience in working with CI/CD processes and tooling from code repositories such as GitLab/GitHub, continuous integration e.g. Jenkins and artefact repositories e.g. Nexus.
  • Experience of implementing, supporting and using configuration management tools such as Ansible, Puppet, Chef.
  • Experience with templating tools (Terraform, Packer, CloudFormation,) to deploy infrastructure and images.
  • Strong hands on experience of containerisations and the orchestration of them, preferably in the form of Docker, Kubernetes, AWS ECS.
  • Strong scripting abilities (Python, PowerShell, Bash) and proven ability to use APIs to automate tooling, delivery pipelines and operational support.
  • Strong knowledge and recent use of Linux Administration (preferably RHEL).
  • Experience within waterfall and agile software development methodologies.
  • Experience in application assessment to determine the best fit and opportunity for demonstrating cloud services and establishing and leading a cloud migration/adoption pipeline.
  • Excellent communication, presenting, collaboration and stakeholder management skills.
  • Must be eligible for SC level security clearance
