Are you passionate about the design and development of real-time systems application software?

Stream Resourcing are currently working with a market leading company in the defence sector, who are currently seeking an experienced embedded software engineer to join their team on a permanent basis, based in Stevenage.

Many of the products and components our clients use in this domain are the result of strong international collaboration; consequently, there may be the opportunity to travel both within the UK and to our sites in France, Italy and Germany.
What are we looking for?

  • Significant previous experience with embedded C, C++.
  • Experience of developing real time embedded software using an object oriented approach.
  • Ability to debug complex problems.
  • Someone focused on quality, ability to engage in code and design reviews.
  • Experience in the development of maintainable and extensible code.


Desirable / Advantageous:

  • Experience in model-based development, either in SysML/UML or in MATLAB/Simulink.
  • Knowledge of Real Time Operating Systems such as PikeOS.
  • Experience in low level driver development and interface with Firmware
  • Experience of developing software products under Windows and Linux development environments for ARM based multi-core processing platforms.
  • Knowledge of standards such as DefStan 00-55 & RTCA 178B/C and restricted coding standards such as MISRA.
  • Exposure to IBM Rational Team Concert.
  • Understanding and use of concepts such as Continuous Integration (Jenkins) and Test Driven Development.

They work within small Agile teams that are built up of developers with skills across Java, C++, Python or JavaScript.

For example,… you could be working on large applications for scientists at the MoD or working on an urban gas-desperation modelling project.

I have a very technical and challenging Software Engineer opportunity that will excite even the most experienced Engineers.

I want to talk to Engineers who have extensive experience with C++ as well a strong working knowledge with MATLAB and Python for a client based in Edinburgh.

You will work on complex programmes using MATLAB /LabView to interact with instruments, test platforms and devices working to OOP principles. There will never be a dull moment within this role due to the nature and complexity of the projects.


What you`ll be doing:
- Develop and deploy tools in response to the needs of the wider business
- Data processing, mining, manipulation, & data visualisation
- Generate software documentation, user manuals and verification reports
- Working with technology across device driver level hardware & firmware

The skills you`ll need;
- A strong working knowledge of C/C++
- Experience using MATLAB and LabView software platforms
- Knowledge of software, hardware & instrumentation (particularly interfacing)
- Experience working to OOP Principles
- Excellent programming experience using Python
- Additional experience of FPGA is highly desirable
