This digitally driven business are looking to add a talented Senior WordPress Developer to their team, working from their offices on the outskirts of Bournemouth. They looking for someone that can display work examples of quality WordPress projects, with an interest in pushing new tech in an energetic environment. The key to this role is being experienced in creating custom WordPress Plugins and 3rd Party Integrations.

Your new role
It is a small but very active agile team. Your core responsibilities will be working on WordPress and WooCommerce eCommerce solutions. You will be involved at the early stages of the project, from conception through to completion. You'll help to define and influence the requirements and scope of the project and lead the rest of the development team on best practices, helping to train and grow the team.

They build all their digital solutions from the ground up, delivering tailored products for their clients. You'll be confident in creating custom functionality and plugins for WordPress and WooCommerce and working with 3rd part systems, utilising their APIs, XML, etc... to push and pull data from one system to another.

Most of all, you' ll be working in a fun, energetic and agile environment, where no two days are the same!

What you'll need to succeed

  • Highly experienced working with WordPress, Woocommerce or other eCommerce platforms
  • Expert knowledge of PHP, MySQL, HTML, CSS, SASS, JavaScript and JS libraries like jQuery
  • Composer, Gulp and Grunt
  • Understanding and experience of the software development lifecycle
  • Creating technical specifications and process flow diagrams to help define the development process
  • Understanding of how to write maintainable code and the importance of testing
  • Experience developing custom integrations using 3rd party APIs
  • Experience working with complex product data, taxonomy, eCommerce store configuration
  • Excellent English language communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to communicate effectively with a technical and non-technical audience
  • Understanding of User Experience design
  • Experience using Git
  • Experience with project management tools
  • Comfortable using collaborative tools such as Google Docs

Our client develops, builds, and runs a cutting-edge Big Data platform for their own meaningful and strategic customer. They are heavy on automation, have great software engineering hardware, a mix of physical and virtual platforms and take on steep learning curves. They are delivering to their customer faster than they have experienced before and are motivated to improve the state of the art, for their customer, and for other engineers or consumers working on similar systems.

The team’s focus is a shared ownership and drive to achieve the customer’s goals. Our client aims for everyone to be involved in software integration, testing, deployment and operations. They all have direct contact with the customer on a daily basis, and the team can ask questions directly to ensure they build what is really needed. Everyone takes ownership of a customer 'story’ from beginning to end. If you are interested in technology integration (as opposed to developing from the ground up), rapid prototyping, regular demonstration of completed work, creating sustainable systems, and thinking ahead but not over complicating for today, this will suit you.

Essential experience required:

Our client is looking for Open Source Integration Engineers at all levels of career experience and would consider graduates with a science related degree (including practical computer programming experience) through to skilled software integration and DevOps professionals.

The perfect fit would have:

  • 3+ years of experience with React or another modern JavaScript framework (React/Vue/Angular)

  • 3+ years of experience with React or another modern JavaScript framework (React/Vue/Angular)
  • Ability to write good quality ES6 code
  • Good understanding of HTML/CSS standards
  • Experience with source control systems such as Git
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Team player with good collaboration skills
  • Open-minded and willing to learn

  • Experience with Typescript or other JavaScript type system (Typescript, Flow, Dart)
  • Experience with Webpack or other JavaScript build systems (Webpack, Gulp)
  • Experience with test automation
  • Experience in transforming great designs into great UIs
  • Experience with Azure DevOps or other agile tools
  • Back-end skills are a plus (full stack developer)
