Senior DevOps Engineer - Splunk SME

Role: Senior DevOps/Systems Reliability Engineer - Splunk
Location: London
Duration: 12 Months
Rate: £600 - £750 per day (DOE)

CPS Group UK are delighted to be seeking a Senior DevOps/Systems Reliability Engineer to join a leading, global brand in London. Using a software engineering approach to architect, design, automate monitor and build applications to scale, we require an Engineer with SME-level knowledge of Splunk.

The Splunk Engineer will play a pivotal role in keeping Splunk available and performing, whilst promoting and on-boarding new technologies that work in conjunction with Splunk, solving complex automation and scaling issues.

Role & Responsibilities

*Play a key role in supporting and evolving the next generation Splunk platform
*Evolve and develop Systems Reliability practices (automation & scaling)
*Evaluate the current state of the Enterprise Splunk environment
*Consulting, Designing, Building & Supporting Advancements for a large-scale Enterprise Splunk production environment
*Creating Telemetry for monitoring
*Automating Infrastructure & Operations
*Reinforcing best practices to secure Company & Customer data
*Systematic Load Testing, troubleshooting, Optimisation & Fine-Tuning
*Documentation - (Design, Play Books)

Candidate Criteria & Required Experience

*SME-Level Splunk knowledge and knowledge of Enterprise Security module
*Expertise with large-scale (enterprise) Splunk environments
*Expertise in multiple scripting languages and advanced skills in programming languages (e.g. Python, Ruby, Node, Java)
*Systems administration on Linux & Windows platforms
*Experience with Source Control Management systems (e.g. Git)
*Expertise with public & private cloud hosting services (AWS, Azure, Google)
*Proficient with Data technologies (NoSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, Elastic)
*Able to diagnose simple/complex system & process issues
*Monitoring & Instrumentation - Site, Systems, Applications
*Networking skills & protocols (HTTP, TLS, SSH, DNS)

Python Developer - SC Cleared

3-Month Contract

Our client wishes to expand their team of outstanding Developers, to help the UK Government build and run great digital services for the people of the UK.

Day-to-day, you will be responsible for working with the team to design, create and improve new and existing products, platforms and transactions across the Government.

The main responsibilities of the role will be:

  • Building web and mobile products.
  • Continuous integration and delivery.
  • Being involved in the wider web development community, identifying good practices and sharing experiences.
  • Sharing knowledge of tools and techniques with the wider team, both developers and non-developers.

Specialist Skills & Requirements:

Essential

  • Experience building server-side web applications.
  • Detailed knowledge of Python.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts to a non-technical audience.
  • Experience working on technical projects within a team.
  • Knowledge of the use of version control systems such as subversion or git.
  • Ability to quickly research and learn new programming tools and techniques.
  • Experience working with Agile methodologies, TDD (Test Driven Development) and Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI & CD) using Scrum, Jenkins and custom internal tooling.
  • Experience of handling large data sets and scaling their handling and storage.
  • Highly desirable experience of Government Digital Services.
  • Ideally you will be SC Cleared.
