FIX Connectivity Specialist
Department overview thinkFolio is a leading provider of portfolio modelling and management tools, compliance and trading functions for asset managers on the buy side. thinkFolio is used globally with the majority of clients currently in the UK.
Position summary IHS Markit is making considerable investments in the thinkFolio product and is increasing the size of the thinkFolio team. With an expected expansion of the client base globally, additional resources are required, as part of the global thinkFolio team.
Following the launch of the thinkFolio
FIX Network (tFN) in 2018 it is imperative that this has dedicated resources to run the operation. As this is a revenue stream in its own right it has been decided to resource this independently so that It is not affected by other strategies applied in the thinkFolio business unit.
FIX is an industry standard used within the financial sector for trade execution, post trade messaging & matching. Whilst it is a specialised area, it is widely used and therefore has a broad coverage. The use of
FIX within the thinkFolio application does require detailed business knowledge of the trading process. It is considered that specific thinkFolio application knowledge, whilst useful is not imperative for the candidate.
This role may require some flexibility in work times.
Duties & Accountabilities
- Responsibility for TFN
- Responsibility for the thinkFolio FIX Network (tFN).
- Ensuring all customer networks are monitored for issues. Expediting any problems
- Expedite customers' requests according to SLAs, inclusive of onboard tFN requests
- Working closing with AWS and Cloud engineering to provide solutions
- Onboarding of new third-party integration FIX partners
- Work with IHSM commercial and strategic alliances teams to provide pre-contract information to third-party integration prospects
- Ownership of thinkFolio FIX interface specification and test case documentation
- Ensure FIX third-parties conform to tF specification
- Schedule FIX certification slots to conform third parties, resulting in project sign-off
- Document certification test results, logs and update any existing necessary documentation
- Work with dev to build out simulators, work with QA to automate test cases
- Periodic re-certification of existing interface to confirm existing functionality and expand new functionality
- Connectivity BAU work
- Ownership of technical relationship with third-party FIX partners
- Ownership of interfaces with legacy strategic FIX Partners
- Work with internal Pre-Sales/Sales, Support, QA, Managed Service and Product teams to provide:
- 2nd line support
- Management of third-party FIX partner FIX lines, GUIs, TLS/SSL encryption files, mandatory upgrades
- Manage any FIX changes delivered by Product team, notification of customers of any workflow changes
- Monitoring of any test failures raised by the QA team and expediting resolution
Education and Experience Required: - Minimum 3 years' experience working in financial sector, specifically within trading or transactional processing.
- Experience of working with FIX preferred, but a broad understanding of trading and execution required
- Direct experience of trading platforms, EMS's not a requirement, but would be an advantage.
- Drive to be challenged with new technologies to be learned.
- An understanding of investment management or trading is advantageous
