Our Architects acts as technology leaders in Aviva, working with colleagues from a variety of teams to design creative end to end solutions and designs that meet our short- and long-term digital goals. You’ll support the definition of our technology vision and help us see how we can get there. Your work will include:

  • Define end-to-end solutions for IT change
  • Create designs that are fit for purpose: meeting our technology, user, customer and security needs
  • Deliver solutions that progress the overall architecture journey and are aligned to Aviva’s Strategy
  • All while and learning from a phenomenal team, and working within an industry leading framework for design



This is an 18-month programme where you’ll spend 80% of your time gaining real hands-on experience in the role and 20% dedicated to your Apprenticeship studies, working with a National Training Provider to support your accredited qualification (a Level 3 Apprenticeship). Upon successful completion of your qualification(s) you’ll be a fully-fledged Aviva Solution/Infrastructure Architect!

About you

We’re on the lookout for apprentices from all kinds of backgrounds - whether this is your first professional role, you’re returning to work after a break, or are looking to move into a new career. Whatever your previous experience, we need you to:

  • Have a minimum of 5 x GCSEs or Scottish National 5s at Grade 9-4 (A*-C) or equivalent?(this must include English and Maths)
  • Be always on the lookout for positive changes and solutions - approaching situations with curiosity and initiative
  • Be a confident communicator
  • Be flexible, able to adapt and change quickly to different situations?
  • Possess good analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Have a love of learning and be working to continually improve
  • Have a genuine interest in tech - finding out about and trying out new technologies and apps



What will you get for this role?

  • Starting salary from £17,500 (depending on skills, experience and qualifications)

My client is seeking an experienced Service Desk Manager to help refine the current service desk environment and is a very strong people manager.  This is a contract role.

The role calls for an experience Service Desk Manager, with excellent process management skills and solid customer service experience. You will need a problem-solving attitude and strong motivational skills

Scope of the role:

  • Lead the day to day operation of the service desk - which numbers 24 service desk analysts over two sites (Colchester and Thurrock)  - providing predominantly telephone support and 1st line technical support for customer and client enquiries
  • To provide effective, comprehensive and professional services in relation to front line service desk contacts, considering best practice standards for service delivery through ITIL
  • Create, implement and manage the SLAs, standards and procedures
  • Team development
  • Take responsibility for the IT Service Desk budget

Key Objectives

To deliver an effective IT Service Desk in line with ITIL standards and the needs of the business, providing advice and guidance, ensuring resolution within agreed timescales and that customers are appraised of progress.

Essential:

  • Aptitude and enthusiasm to learn new infrastructure as code and DevOps technologies and techniques.
  • Experience working in a DevOps / Infrastructure as code environment, ideally in the following areas (although full training can be provided):
    • Working with Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery tools in a production environment (such as TeamCity / Jenkins / GitLab CI).
    • Linux (CentOS 7 upwards preferred).

The software engineer will be joining a UK-based Agile software engineering team and collaborating with the wider team situated in Shenzhen, China. This business develops innovative technology that is re-inventing education across the globe. This is a full-stack C++ software engineering position where you will work across the entire software development lifecycle. You will also be the key liaison between the UK team and the team in China. This will MEAN communicating via confluence tools and translating during team meetings held over video and the telephone.
