Overview of the Role

As the Senior Linux & Unix Application Developer/Engineer you will be taking functional and developmental designs & requirements through to solution. SFIA - Programming/Software Development - Level 3

Designs, codes, tests, corrects, and documents moderately complex programs and scripts from agreed specifications and subsequent iterations, using agreed standards and tools. Collaborates in reviews of specifications, with others as appropriate.

SFIA - Testing - Level 3

Reviews requirements and specifications, and defines test conditions. Designs test cases and test scripts under own direction, mapping back to pre-determined criteria, recording and reporting outcomes. Analyses and reports test activities and results. Identifies and reports issues and risks associated with own work.

SFIA - Application Support - Level 3

Identifies and resolves issues with applications, following agreed procedures. Uses application management software and tools to collect agreed performance statistics. Carries out agreed applications maintenance tasks.

Essential Knowledge, Criteria and Skills

  • Operating Systems Administration skills: Redhat Linux, Windows, Networking, Middleware.
  • Excellent environment management, automation and scripting skills e.g. Shell/Python/Perl scripts
  • Experience with integrating deployment and automation toolsets into an operational solution.
  • Experience with continuous build, automated deployment, testing and integration methodology and tooling experience i.e.:  (Jenkins//Maven/Nexus/Ansible or similar)
  • Experience with the use of version source control systems such as Subversion or Git.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies (TDD, SCRUM, Kanban, etc.)
  • Release and Environment management experience.
  • Experience of designing, deploying and managing technical environments.
  • Strong knowledge of factors influencing performance and ability to tune systems to achieve best possible performance and capacity.
  • Experience with Release and Configuration Management processes.
  • Installation and management of open source monitoring tools.

  • Managing their workload across multiple concurrent projects each needing DevOps input

The ideal candidate will have previous experience within a mobile games environment and able to communicate at all levels.

Responsibilities:

• Writing and maintaining SQL queries and SQL-driven dashboards
• Delivering accurate, insightful and actionable analysis to the rest of the company, including Product Managers and Performance Marketers
• Creating self-conducted deep-dive reports, mining available behavioural data to spot barriers to and opportunities for improved performance
• Assisting in designing and assessing the results of split testing experiments conducted in our games

Essential:

• Strong experience in creating SQL queries
• Knowledge of statistics and experience using statistical packages for analysing datasets (R, Python, SPSS or SAS) is highly desired
• Advanced MS Excel skills

Desirable:

• 1 year experience with mobile games
• Experience with designing and setting up dashboards in BI tools is a plus
