A true Software Test Engineer / QA Engineer role in which you will getting into the actual code is a they are shifting their process focus to continuous deployment which puts a big emphasis on automated testing very early in the process

The QA Engineer must experience of both manual and automated testing, with ideally Rest API testing, black box testing and working in a DevOps environment, for a leading technology company based in Cambridge.

Experience with APIs and SQL would be good and somebody who has an interest in backend testing

Offering flexible working, such as a few days working from home, they are about to launch their product globally after being a huge success in the UK. You will also work with the latest testing technologies and it is very much a DevOps environment.

Experience required:

  • Black box functional testing in an agile environment
  • Ideally a mix manual functional testing and automated testing
  • Understanding of the principles of RESTful APIs and be comfortable with the basics of both Windows and Linux Operating Systems
  • You must be an excellent communicator as the role will involve engaging with all parts of the business, taking part in Scrum meetings and have a say on what ways to do the testing (there may be multiple approaches that you have to use from time to time)

The role will involve picking up tickets off the sprint board, working through, talking to developers about implementation and product owners to see if software meets requirements asking for.

4 in the team and they have two UI engineers. They want people interested in the back end with a technical background. Looking for general test engineers. While they wouldn't want to pigeonhole into backend or frontend, they want test engineers in all areas of the platform but with a focus on backend

ISEB certification would be great- means been on a course, show intent in testing and show what testing involves.

Someone who wants to get hands on and experience in testing API's - if you have that it means you understand how interfaces work. And use of SQL databases and be able to write queries would be a bonus. In testing they cover the whole lot, for example Do the testing, frontend testing and the middle logic area. Not a 100% automation test engineer as will be some manual testing, which is quite complex - deployment on linux environments etc

What will you be testing daily? Middle tier - involved in API's and databases. Nothing overly technical but some familiarity with coding. A mix of manual and automation testing, deployment and Rest API'. Need to be technical so Java or SQL, well a bit of familiarity and have a passion about Software Testing.

The manual testing is quite complex, including deployment on Linux environments etc. It is a fully Agile team, you will be working with the product owners and software engineers daily and become an integral part of the software team.

They have a couple of roles and will take on people with either with a couple of years of software testing experience, but have that drive to learn or fully-fledged Software tester who is still passionate about software testing but wants to work with the latest technologies and progress to more senior levels
