Excellent new opportunity for an experience Technical Solutions Architect, working in the Enterprise Service arena.

Providing both the technical leadership and accountability for the overall success of an engagement's technical team's efforts including architecture, design, development, testing, and deployment for the business solution. This high-level role requires an in-depth understanding of the client's business, its operating model and business challenges, together with the technology available for creating a fully integrated, successful business solution.

The key responsibilities of the Technical Solution Architect would be to:
* Oversee the quality and integration of the solution architecture, design integrity and communications, and the interface between applications, legacy systems, component libraries, content repositories and supporting databases
* Liaise between the client, vendors, project management and the technical team on questions, issues, revisions to the solution architecture
* Oversee the integration of the new business solution with legacy (existing computer) systems to satisfy clients' requirements
* Work closely with the Client Architecture Group, Technical & Application Architects, Performance Engineer, and Business Architect to evaluate key technology decisions
* Work closely with project management and development teams to assist the planning and review of project schedules, project reviews and gap analysis
* Work closely with Pre-Sales and Solutions Architecture to discuss, identify and propose the correct business solution
* Able to deliver results working as part of a team i.e. in a collaborative and supportive manner

In addition, there are specific responsibilities in relation to Design, Development, Deployment and Testing activities, including:
* Provides overall design principles and guidance for software and hardware integration, performance design, reliability design, manageability design and security design
* Leads architecture team: Data, Technical and Application Architects
* Defines application subsystems and major components
* Develops, communicates, maintains, and enforces the overall architecture (applications, data, and technical infrastructure) of the project and knows what the system components are and how they fit together
* Ensures that the interface specifications are published and controlled
* Controls the development of interfaces for the different components so they meet interface specifications
* Co-ordinates interface design and back-end application design and development
* Prioritises solution performance improvements based on performance engineering (PE) benchmarks

Knowledge and Skills of the Technical Solutions Architect:
* Extensive knowledge of Enterprise level Service Management toolsets - SNC, HP, Remedy, CA etc
* Strong architecture, design and implementation experience with Enterprise Systems Management and IT Service Management domain solutions, products, and industry trends
* Strong architecture, design and implementation experience with security solutions, products, and industry trends
* Prior experience in addressing business and technical stakeholder requirements and translating these to appropriate solution architectures
* Prior experience in developing sales, technical or service delivery collateral
* Prior experience working with virtualization and cloud solutions
* Prior experience working with different operating systems, enterprise systems management, storage, networking or security solutions
* Prior experience with Enterprise Architecture or IT Service Management processes, frameworks, and methodologies
* Prior experience in programming and scripting languages is desirable
* Prior experience working with partners on product integration and solution initiatives is desirable
* Good understanding of Managed Service Providers is desirable
* Proven experience in professional services/alliances/solution engineering/consulting/technical sales with expertise in architecting and deploying management and security solutions, cloud solutions, and rolling out new technology and solution initiatives
* TOGAF and ITIL
* Exposure and understanding of three or more of the following application/framework areas desired:
o Cloud based technologies around SaaS, PaaS and IaaS offerings
o Understanding of Cloud computing (public, private and hybrid)
o CMMi, COBIT, LEAN and Six Sigma
o Web/App Servers (MS IIS, Tomcat, vFabric tc, IBM Websphere)
o ERP/CRM architectures (SAP, Oracle, eBusiness, Peoplesoft, Siebel)
o Business Intelligence (Hyperion, SAS, Business Objects)

Typical Background of required of the Technical Solutions Architect:

* Good understanding of current application development standards, methodologies, issues
* Experience in both bespoke (custom designed) software development and integration of COTS products
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
* Ability to communicate highly complex technical information clearly, articulately and convincingly at all levels from Blue Chip Executive to Developer
* An understanding of the stakeholder political pressures on clients and projects

Whilst our parent company operates internationally from their HQ in South Africa, we are a UK-based financial services specialist that supports our customers across a range of products and services, with hubs throughout the UK, including London, Reading, Manchester and Cardiff.
