The BRS Digital Team is an exciting, innovative and growing team with a focus on transforming our business through the use of technology. We work alongside teams within BRS to bring ideas to life, to draw value and business advantage from data and information. We run workshops and interactive sessions, providing advice, challenges, suggesting new angles and alternative ways of working as well as providing hands on support to develop ideas for technology propositions in BRS.

We are looking for a capable and enthusiastic experienced data analyst at the Senior Associate level. The role would involve developing complex data models and subsequent visualisation and reporting dashboards. Experience in using both data preparation and blending tools, such as Alteryx, as well as industry leading visualisation tools, such as Tableau or Power BI, is essential.

You will get exposure to different clients and challenges and the opportunity to put recommendations and improvements into practices.

Core Responsibilities & Attributes
  • Work with client facing stakeholders from the BRS business to establish the right technology approach to solving business problems. You will need to quickly understand the specific business context so that you can provide valuable challenge and guidance. Experience in BRS would be valuable, though not essential

  • Significant experience authoring workflows with Alteryx (and/or other data blending and preparation tools), creating robust data models capable of supporting complex visualisations and analytics

  • Strong understanding of data management and relational database concepts, data cleansing, dimensional modelling, and measure/metric calculation

  • Ability to leverage scripting languages as needed to operationalize processes (eg. vba, javascript, Python) Expert in Tableau and/or Power BI. Be able to produce meaningful visualisations for both reporting and management dashboarding. Must have significant experience in dashboard vs report design, including best practice design and the creation of custom visuals -- the right candidate knows whether you might use a bar chart or a scatter plot and whether a set of data points helps inspire a decision

  • Proficient at requirements gathering and stakeholder management, an eye for commercial opportunities, good communication and organisational skills.

  • Appetite to learn and apply technologies.

  • Be accountable for the appropriate scoping, quality and timely delivery of your projects; engaging with relevant stakeholders to communicate developments and manage issues as they arise.

  • Report to the BRS Digital leadership team; updating them on challenges and opportunities and engaging with them to define priorities.

  • Ability to work in teams in-person and virtually as well as autonomously. Must take ownership of his or her own work

To be successful in this role you will need to demonstrate the following;

  • The ability to come up with creative solutions to complex problems

  • Exceptional analytical and technical aptitude

  • Exceptional attention to detail

  • Ability to work manage time, prioritise tasks and work under tight deadlines;

  • The ability to work independently with little supervision, but integrate well into teams

  • Concise and clear communication when presenting and explaining results and findings

Requirements
  • At least one data handling tool e.g. SQL, Alteryx

  • At least 2 years experience of using visualisation tools e.g. Tableau, Power BI

Desirable
  • Ability to leverage programming languages (Python, c# preferred)

  • Understanding of statistics and machine learning concepts

  • Ability to leverage APIs

  • Cloud development and operation (especially Azure)

  • Experience in agile software development and principles

  • Understanding of financial accounting

My client, an Emergency Organisation in London is looking for a Data Scientist to join the organisation with a background in Python and SQL.

Mandatory Skills
Statistics and programming in Python/ SQL. Machine Learning skills like KNN (nearest neighbours clustering), Random Forests, regression, NLP etc. Experience developing data science capability in a large organisation. Motivated and self-starting.

Desired Skills
As above, but also R and GIS skills – Cadcorp, ArcGIS, QGIS, spatial analysis.

Team size
Team size is 15, but this is the only Data Scientist role currently. They will be supported by a Research analyst for analysis and data cleaning tasks.

Project Deliverables
We have several Python scripts that have been developed and would like these investigated and help us make them into something useful that we can put into production. We are also developing a new London Risk analysis methodology and would like some clustering algorithms to be applied to it.

Project Status
We are new to the data science world and have some proof of concepts under our belt. We would like an experienced data scientist that would be willing to help us develop our in-house capability.

This is an excellent opportunity to grow long-term in a fast-paced, high-performance environment.
