Software Development Engineer, Richmond, North Yorkshire

A business in Richmond, North Yorkshire is looking to appoint a Software Development Engineer to join their small team.

The client can consider someone who is either experienced in the field who wants to develop and further their career, a recent graduate in a relevant degree or someone currently studying for a Masters.

They can offer full time or part time hours

You will assist with the maintenance of their existing products as well as develop new product features, you will also be expected to analyse customers’ requirements and implement effective solutions. You may also be required to offer some technical support to production, engineering and field-service colleagues and have the ability to organise your own workload. You will be disciplined and methodical with excellent verbal and written communication skills. Eager and quick to learn, you will have a probing mind, the ability to think laterally and able to work under minimal supervision. The successful candidate may also be required to attend customer sites for installations and provide client training, with opportunity for occasional overseas travel.

You should ideally have:

  • A relevant higher education or degree qualification or equivalent experience
  • Demonstrable experience of software development
  • Experience of programming languages such C#, .NET, WinForms, WPF/XAML or HTML5/JavaScript/Angular, Java/Spring , C++
  • High level of numeracy, preferably qualified in a science, mathematics or engineering discipline
  • Ability to travel within the UK Europe and internationally (UK Driving licence required)

It is also increasingly used by Business facing applications such as PFW Resolve (used by 1000s of PFW Depot Users) and the CPC application for managing operational incidents impacting the delivery of mail. The ServiceNow platform is used by RMG and its suppliers as the core Service Integration & Management platform delivering ITIL disciplines such as Service Desk, Incident, Problem, Change, Request, Asset & Configuration, Knowledge and Event Management in order to support RMG’s IT Services 24 x 7 The ServiceNow Administrator and Developer is responsible for technical support, ongoing development and for improving the adoption and maturity of RMG’s ServiceNow implementation as detailed below: 


Key Accountabilities

Support, administration and development on the critical ServiceNow platform. Some of the development activities in flight are listed below.
