Systems Engineer / DevOps (Linux Kubernetes Docker Networking). Technologist sought by global financial software house for an initial six month contract at their City based offices.

As a Systems Engineer / DevOps you'll be responsible for building and running large scale, distributed, fault tolerant, low latency applications that combine ultra-low latency performance, the capacity to cope with the busiest trading days during times of turmoil or surprises in the global economy with concrete reliability and integrity whilst undergoing rapid release cycles.

Day-to-day you'll be collaborating with Technical and Business Operations teams on critical issues; assessing the issue, proposing and implementing solutions and partnering with DBA, Network Engineers and Software Developers as needed for the resolution. You'll deploy in-house and 3rd party applications with a focus on automation and hardening and ensure that solutions are secure in partnership with the global security team.

You'll be joining a small team (some US based) and will work fairly autonomously, taking ownership and managing your own time.

Requirements:

*Strong Kubernetes on Docker administration experience
*Strong Linux scripting and application troubleshooting
*Automation scripting skills (e.g. PowerShell, Python, bash)
*Good understanding of Windows OS
*Good working knowledge of traditional networking - able to troubleshoot network issues, interpret packet captures and diagnose connectivity issues
*Experience of working on highly scalable, high performance systems preferably within a trading / financial services environment

Must have excellent communication skills as you will be working with internal technical & business teams as well as external partners.

Develop sandboxes and cloud test environments, support and run hosted test environments.

Monitor and improve sandboxes/cloud test environments - seeking improvements from stakeholders and the industry.

Contribute to develop and code highly innovative technical projects & work closely with suppliers code and open source.

Monitor & research tech trends in financial & digital inclusion, collaborate with other team members to produce and publish insights for the industry i.e. webinars, papers, blogs.

Support the Technology Lead in the delivery of technical innovation projects.

Skills & experience:
