  • Ansible deployment automation of software, upgrades and Linux configuration
  • Robot Framework and Selenium based test automation for post-build and post-deploy health checks
  • Bug and technical debt triage, trouble shooting and resolution
  • Production environment change back-porting to our Git repository
  • Enhancement of our Bamboo based build and continuous integration processes
  • System performance analysis and improvement of multiple, high spec large clusters
  • Third line support of production environments with our system administrators

In addition, the following form part of the broader role:

  • Review, elaboration and accurate estimation of new requirements with our Product Owner

To design, implement and maintain a secure, stable and responsive operating environment across the company's Linux and Unix computer systems to support the business.
To maintain a stable, secure and efficient data centre and storage infrastructure. Whilst your specialism will be Unix and Linux based systems, you will also be expected to work as integral member of the infrastructure team on windows based systems and general infrastructure projects.
To actively monitor all systems (regardless of operating system) and networks for security threats and vulnerabilities and to take appropriate action.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and develop a secure, stable and responsive operating environment to support the company's Linux and Unix servers.
  • Storage and Backup Administration. Utilising Netbackup and Veeam ensure that essential data is securely stored on networked servers and that the data is effectively backed-up and restore procedures are sufficient to support the business.
  • Ensure the security and protection of the network and the servers.
  • Manage, maintain and develop the remote access solutions and web proxy technologies.
  • Ensure all Unix and Linux systems and other non-windows systems under your control are patched appropriately in line with vendor specifications.
  • Performance monitoring and alerting of all Unix and Linux systems and other non-windows systems under your control using appropriate tools.
  • Assess IT developments and their impact on the company's computing infrastructure, and supply technical input to implement new technologies that can provide business benefit.
  • Work to continually improve the Infrastructure environment security, performance and reliability. This includes working on projects including new infrastructure roll outs and system upgrades.
  • Contribute to an integrated infrastructure to enable data to be exchanged between all computing systems in the company and externally.
  • Provide Documentation of server builds, including tested disaster recovery procedures and hand over training to Service Desk team.


Qualifications and Skills - Formal Qualifications

Essential

  • Educated to Degree Level or equivalent experience
  • Certification in Linux/Unix administration, or demonstrable equivalent experience


Desirable

  • Formal qualification in ITIL.
  • Project Management qualification - i.e. PRINCE 2 Practitioner
  • Cyber security qualifications.
  • NetBackup and Veeam experience
  • Dell Compellent

Technically astute with a passion for IS/IT. Excellent communication skills. Knowledge and experience of how to manage risk in IS/IT in both an operational and development environment. An Analyst Programmer is required to work on Development Projects and Support Based activities for a successful global company. Working a largely project based environment with commercial deadlines, this role requires a committed attitude and high technical competence.

In this role you will:
* Produce, present and validate AS-IS and TO-BE landscape models for technical approval showing migration path.
* To be able to work directly with business users in all aspects of design and development.
* Produce code that meets quality, coding and performance standards according to local IT guidelines and policies including Security, auditing and SOX requirements.
* Undertake Unit testing making full utilisation of automation tools available and working with the system test team to ensure tests are integrated as part of the overall test plan
* Work with off-shore partners in the review of requirements, functional and technical documentation and coding to ensure adherence to guidelines and policies.
* Work with the Business Analysts to ensure requirements and functional design is accurately captured in UML design models.
* Provide technical support for the production running of the core business systems, diagnosing faults and creating code fixes or data-patches to correct production issues.

Experience and skills required:
* Extensive commercial development experience using Oracle and PL/SQL
* Proven capability with C, Java, C# .Net
* Good technical understanding of Oracle database & tuning.
* Good knowledge of UML modelling. Thorough understanding of SOA, its impacts and drivers.
* Proven working knowledge of multi-tier developments from Client Server to Web based developments.
* Experience in the development of Web Services being utilised by a number of different consumers.
* Working knowledge of Windows and Unix operating systems.
* Proven delivery track record for full lifecycle project development and implementations
* An awareness and appreciation of new emerging technologies and standards being adopted within the IT industry and their potential benefits to any business.
* Experience working with Waterfall and Agile development methodology
