The Global Modelling Unit (GMU) is a large team of specialists/ analysts that support client facing market research teams, through providing methodological advice and statistical modelling. We are one of the largest analytics teams at Ipsos and we have a global presence. The wider team has 3 main arms, Healthcare, Consumer, and Data Science (which spans both areas).
The Google Could Engineer will join our experienced team to manage a Kubernetes environment in Google Cloud and ensure all working environments connect with the cloud correctly and securely. The successful applicant will also provide project specific technical support, and gain exposure to and experience in a great number of analytical techniques.
The Role:
This is a very varied and interesting role including:-
- Managing services in Google Cloud like: Kubernetes, Jupyter Hub, GCE, Cloud Storage, Microservices, APIs
- Managing Docker containers and creating new images and instances as required
- Responsible for Cloud security an, ensuring that all external facing applications are secure, and ensuring best practices are in place
- Keeping abreast of latest developments in GCP and related services, and investigating new approaches and methodologies to benefit the team
- Helping to maintain and develop applications based on cloud services
- Helping new product development and quick testing of possible new methodologies
- Show willingness to lend a hand/ take a proactive team approach to help others
- Self-management – plan time well and carry out tasks to an expected standard
- Become knowledgeable about the market research industry, client sectors and the Ipsos analytical offer
About you:
To be successful in this role you will need the following skills and experience: -
- Excellent programming skills
- Experience of setting up Google Cloud environments, virtual machines and working with Docker/Kubernetes
- Good working knowledge of Linux server administration and Apache or Nginx
- Programming experience in Python and knowledge of the Jupyter Labs environment
- Passionate about new technologies and capable of self-guided learning of new packages and programming languages
- Good organization, communication and teamwork skills
- Experience in creating APIs and microservices
- Knowledge of Google’s ML offerings (TensorFlow, Speech, Vision, Auto ML etc)
- Server-side development using Django or Ajax and Linux scripting in PowerShell or bash
- To be creative and innovative
- Excellent attention to detail
- Curiosity and enthusiasm about learning new techniques
