The role of Automated QA Engineer will be to work closely with the development team – as the team is close knit you will be expected to have a natural curiosity of the entirety of the systems and want to be involved in different environments including Linux and Windows. Your team will be supported by other technologists focusing on their business areas including - cash markets, the business and senior technology staff.

As their Automated QA Engineer you will be expected to have exceptional business knowledge/ skills –where you have worked on either  real time market data projects, or equity exchange derivatives, and / or European cash markets.

The Automated QA Engineer will have a strong knowledge of:

  •          Automated Testing - Java
  •          Building Automation Frameworks in Java and Python
  •          Linux, UNIX, Windows knowledge 
  •          Experience of scripting, including Python, Perl or Bash 
  •          Financial markets passion and experience

Our client, a top Financial Services Technology company, is hiring for a Windows Automation Engineer in one of their New York State locations. The role can be based in Harrison, NY or Yorktown Heights, NY and can pay up to $85,000 base.

The role is responsible for automating Windows deployments, updates, and patches, managing and monitoring systems and infrastructure, installing, configuring, testing, and maintaining Windows as well as related application software and system management tools. The role is also responsible for testing application performance, identifying issues, and working with developers to implement fixes, maintaining security, backup, and redundancy, writing and maintaining custom scripts to increase efficiency, designing of support systems, providing Level 2 and Level 3 support, and liaising with vendors and IT staff to resolve any issues.

Candidates must have at least 2 years of experience automating Windows systems, experience administering and doing performance tuning on Tomcat, JBoss, Apache, Ruby, and/or NGINX, experience with virtualization and containerization using VMware or Virtual Box, experience with monitoring tools, experience with automation tools such as Chef, Packer, or Foreman, solid scripting with Shell, Perl, Ruby, or Python, and a basic understanding of network concepts such as OSI layers and TCP/IP.

Harrington Starr has partnered with a leading financial technology company within London, where they are currently looking for a technical software support engineer, to maintain and support their platform.

You will ideally come from a software and infrastructure background working within a DevOps environment. You will be AWS certified, with solid Python experience. You will also have excellent customer service skills and empathy for clients’ needs.

You will learn new technologies as well as building on your current experiences. You will work in a fast-paced environment with a mix of financial developers, DevOps and infrastructure engineers, and application developers to provide front line support to our clients and staff. In this role, you will work directly with the teams to triage and analyze technical issues logged into our ticketing system.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Collect and triage production support incident tickets and follow documented standard operating procedures
  • Maintain and create support documentation and knowledgebase
  • Own production support issues and collaborate with support engineers to resolve issues within designated SLAs
  • Provide regular updates to internal and external stakeholders on outstanding issues
  • Interact directly as needed with clients and stakeholders
  • Provide daily and weekly issue reports
  • Be an active participant at production support meetings
  • Monitor environment logs for errors and troubleshoot accordingly
  • Flexibility to work additional hours as needed

Required Skills

  • Infrastructure Engineering
  • A relevant Information Technology qualification such as Microsoft certifications or AWS certifications
  • Proven hands-on experience with Linux servers (Ubuntu/RedHat Enterprise Linux)
  • Familiarity with cloud Infrastructure such as AWS, Azure or Google Cloud
  • Exposure to DevOps tools such as Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and configuration management

Software Development

  • Experience with Python
  • Exposure to at least one of the following languages: JavaScript, C, C++, Golang
  • Exposure to coding/scripting or automating manual tasks
  • Essential Criteria

  • A degree or active pursuance of a degree in a relevant STEM field
