Do you get really excited by Big Data, innovative engineering, open source and applied AI? Do you have a background working in support of academic or clinical research projects? We are recruiting for a Data Scientist, AI & Imaging Data Expert Postdoc. You will be working within the Health Informatics Centre at the University of Dundee leading the technical development of a platform which will transform access to routinely collected clinical images at scale for research purposes. The role will also involve a significant element of collaborative work with the participants in the iCAIRD programme
The GBP3.8M PICTURES 5 year programme is highly innovative and brings together the NHS, academia and industry to make a real different to patients. This role will lead liaison between the two programmes to collaborate on academic research and technical delivery.
Your priorities will include:
  • Developing relationships between the teams across the two programmes, and turning these relationships into specific deliverable projects.
  • Identifying suitable areas for collaboration, both in academic research and software delivery.
  • Architecture, design and development of a large-scale software platform which manages over 2 Petabytes of data.
  • Contributing specialist imaging data domain knowledge to the software development team.
  • Developing and training AI algorithms, working with image data and natural language processing of text-based data.
  • Publishing our findings in relevant journals and presenting at conferences.
  • Promoting our research on the safe, secure and anonymised use of patient data to the general public.
Who we're looking for:
  • A doctorate-level degree in relevant subject.
  • Ideally extensive experience in software development and architecture.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design data analytics solutions by utilising the Big Data technology stack
  • Create and present solution architecture documents with deep technical details
  • Work closely with business in identifying solution requirements and key case-studies/scenarios for future solutions
  • Conduct solution architecture review/audit, calculate and present ROI
  • Lead implementation of the solutions from establishing project requirements and goals to solution "go-live"
  • Participate in the full cycle of pre-sale activities: direct communications with customers, RFP processing, the development of proposals for implementation and design of the solution, presentation for proposed solution architecture to the customer and participate in technical meetings with customer representatives
  • Create and follow personal education plan in the technology stack and solution architecture

REQUIREMENTS

  • Strong hands-on' experience as a Big Data Architect with a solid design/development background with Java, Scala, or Python
  • Experience delivering data analytics projects and architecture guidelines
  • Experience in Big Data solutions on premises and on the cloud (Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud)
  • Production project experience in at least one of the Big Data technologies
  • Batch processing: Hadoop and MapReduce/Spark/Hive
  • NoSQL databases: Cassandra/HBase/Accumulo/Kudu
  • Knowledge of Agile development methodology, Scrum in particular
  • Experience in direct customer communications and pre-selling business-consulting engagements to clients within large enterprise environments

The Opportunity

The candidate will join Risk as a Service, a leading entrepreneurial team, as a Front End Software Engineer and be responsible for developing one of its new flagship client-facing products. The product delivers a best-in-class real time risk analytics and trade management via multiple delivery channels, including web and mobile.

 

The candidate will work in an agile environment and partner with other engineers, product managers, and UX teams.  Candidates do not necessarily need banking experience but must be highly motivated, with a track record of success. The ideal candidate will have a thorough understanding of web technologies used to build web applications using HTML5/JavaScript/TypeScript. Any experience with other languages or full-stack knowledge is a plus.


This is a technical role, and the candidate would also be driving the design of our components, mentoring other members and actively contributing to the development of features. Experience is expected in analysis/design, Agile methodologies, application and SDK development, optimization and performance tuning – plus working with business analysts, UX, testers as well as internal and external clients. You will:

Skills and Experience

Following technical skills are important:

-          JavaScript, TypeScript; understanding of transpilation, BOM, DOM, and Virtual DOM

The Asset Manager Platform organization within the Corporate and Investment Bank (CIB)’s Securities Services group is a newly formed business offering best-in-class digital solutions for our institutional client base across financial products and investment lifecycles. The Opportunity

The candidate will join Risk as a Service, a leading entrepreneurial team, as a Front End Software Engineer and be responsible for developing one of its new flagship client-facing products. The product delivers a best-in-class real time risk analytics and trade management via multiple delivery channels, including web and mobile.

 

The candidate will work in an agile environment and partner with other engineers, product managers, and UX teams.  Candidates do not necessarily need banking experience but must be highly motivated, with a track record of success. The ideal candidate will have a thorough understanding of web technologies used to build web applications using HTML5/JavaScript/TypeScript. Any experience with other languages or full-stack knowledge is a plus.


This is a technical role, and the candidate would also be driving the design of our components, mentoring other members and actively contributing to the development of features. Experience is expected in analysis/design, Agile methodologies, application and SDK development, optimization and performance tuning – plus working with business analysts, UX, testers as well as internal and external clients. The working environment is competitive and demanding but one where creativity and problem solving skills are rewarded



You will:

·         Work on some of the most complex problems imaginable at the intersection of two dynamic industries: finance and technology

·         Be part of a new business initiative within JPM that will create a significant revenue stream for the firm and influence the commercialization and go-to-market strategy of the service

·         Actively collaborate with other highly skilled engineers and work on a fresh, cutting-edge codebase.

·         Influence decisions on market strategy, platform strategy, client engagement and implementing innovative technology-based solutions at the bank

·         Interact with other high-performing teams within JPM to inspire innovation and champion change throughout the bank 


Skills and Experience

 

The successful candidate should have a Bachelors Degree or equivalent in Computer Science, mathematics, or a related field, or equivalent working experience.

 

Following technical skills are important:

-          ReactJS, HTML5 / CSS3, and related tooling and technologies

-          JavaScript, TypeScript; understanding of transpilation, BOM, DOM, and Virtual DOM

-          Async programming; Promises; WebComponents; Redux; RxJS

-          Git, GitLab/Bitbucket, or related version control systems; working in CI/CD environments

-          Node (server side and tooling); Selenium; Jenkins; Jest

 

Additionally, understanding of/experience with following is highly beneficial:

-          Data visualization (D3, HighCharts)

-          Data Grids (AG Grid)

-          Advanced React design patterns; data binding; web sockets. WASM

-          ADA/Web Accessibility

 

Further, the candidate should possess:

·         Proven track record of taking an idea from inception to delivery
