Become a Senior Cyber Security Specialist (SOC) with Capita Technology Solutions in West Malling:

Great Opportunity to join our cyber security team to be responsible for utilising and providing expert knowledge in the area of detective and responsive security controls in a security operations centre environment. As a 3rd-4th line responder, you will have a grounding in Infrastructure and Application security, their vulnerabilities and threats as well as common diagnostic tools and methods.

Our clients and customers include internal Capita business as well as external non-Capita businesses.

You will work with and lead a team of analysts in proactive threat detection, tuning SIEM alerts and other detection tools and processes, correlating events with threat Intelligence and provide reports recommending remedial actions to defend against threats and weaknesses in monitored system among other tasks.


Key Responsibilities

  • Development and implementation of threat detection analytics & reporting
  • Act as escalation point and provide technical support to colleagues and customers
  • Tuning of alerts and event sources to ensure highest level of defence
  • Ensure all identified events are investigated thoroughly
  • Provide security related recommendations to SME's as threat events unfold
  • Understanding Vulnerability Data and alignment to customers threat potential

What You'll Bring:

  • Broad understanding and experience in all areas of Cyber security
  • Broad understanding of the concepts of detective and responsive controls
  • Experience of security operations processes, ITIL, Incident response, etc
  • An understanding of the MITRE ATT&CK Framework
  • Proven cyber security experience with a strong knowledge of networking and systems security and a good understanding and appreciation of application security
  • Experience in one or more of the following: SIEM tools (QRadar and / or Log Rhythm), Windows or 'Nix based system, OWASP, Cloud, Firewalls and/or IPS
  • Ability to consistently deliver to deadlines while prioritising without sacrificing quality.
  • Professional, hard-working and attention to detail.
  • Good understanding of ITIL processes, including Change Management, Incident Management and Problem Management.
  • Strong written and oral communications, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc
  • Ability to gain SC clearance

Desired Technical Experience:

  • Programming skills (Python, Ruby, RHP, C, C#, Perl, Java, Regex, PowerShell)
  • Project Management

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CISSP

Primary Job Purpose:

To successfully develop new, innovative software applications, and to support and enhance existing software applications in immersive and interactive technologies. We are looking for candidates from a wide range of experience levels and from all aspects of the software development process – specification, architecture design, user interface design, real time 3D rendering, back end application development and testing.

Experience with the Unity 3D game engine highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create custom 3D VR or AR applications in both industry and entertainment sectors. This could involve creating applications for mobile devices right through to high end visualisation systems such as CAVEs or interactive theme park rides.
  • Develop and maintain our software framework, a C# based suite of tools and 3D rendering engine for all Virtual Reality, Scientific Visualisation, and Interactive Gaming content
  • To develop middleware and actual content based on Unity Game Engine
  • To contribute to R&D for VR, AR and AI development that is able to link into our existing framework
  • To develop, write and document code to professional standards of architectural integrity and robust performance
  • To help develop artificial intelligence programmes, to write algorithms
  • To assist with the initial installation and configuration of new software at customer sites, events or trade shows
  • Make valuable and timely contributions to all necessary development meetings
  • Deliver to timetable and the required standard all documentation following completion of application
  • Resolve technical issues arising from hardware changes, new operating systems etc.
  • Test software before handing to support (for final testing before release).
  • Manage personal resources available for a project
  • Review new and over the horizon technologies that may be used on future projects.
  • Test new application features work as required, test that new features can be added to existing system (when possible).

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Software Application Development experience - Object-oriented C# / .NET programming skills and experience
  • Good written and verbal communication skills in English
  • An entrepreneurial attitude and enthusiasm for learning new software and hardware technologies
  • Mathematical, scientific and engineering skills
  • Git or similar source control system experience
