The Corporate Technology (CT) organization develops applications and provides technology support for corporate functions across JPMorgan Chase, including Global Finance, Corporate Treasury, Risk Management, Human Resources, Compliance, Legal, and all functions within the Corporate Administrative Office (CAO).


Within CT, the Controls, Legal & Regulatory Technology organization delivers technology solutions for:

Controls, Legal & Regulatory Technology is seeking a senior applications lead to lead manage major Regulatory Engagement platforms, and to drive the execution of the transformation strategy as it pertains to these and other platforms with Controls, Legal & Regulatory Technology.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee agile feature teams delivering on business needs of Regulatory Engagement, while aligning with overall Global Technology engineering strategy and the evolution towards a continuous-delivery model based on test-driven development, automated deployments, and internal and external cloud platforms
  • Serve as a change agent to rapidly adopt the DevOps Systems Reliability Engineer model that is being rolled out across Corporate Technology.
  • Collaborate directly with stakeholders to solve technology related problems, prioritize issues, and transform the end user experience based on user-centric design practices
  • Participate in the creation of, and lead the execution of the application transformation strategy.  This involves helping to properly factor business capabilities into microservices, and advise on how they should be bounded and linked across applications which serve various business use cases, maximizing component reuse, improving user experience and shortening time to market.
  • Ensure proper resourcing and resource utilization to adhere to program delivery milestones

Candidates must be able to demonstrate:

  • Experience in managing multiple application development teams with a proven track record of deliveries against the plan and on budget.
  • Experience in user-centric design, with a proven track record of successful results
  • Experience in agile transformation initiatives at scale
  • Proven track record in software modernization
  • Deep understanding of technology, architecture, design patterns and performance engineering
  • Experience working as a delivery manager, managing technical program portfolio reporting and program planning management functions in a Financial Services setting
  • Clean and concise communicator within and across teams under his/her management
  • Strong team leader, both as a technical leader and as a team motivator who serves as a culture carrier for building a team that takes pride of ownership in their work

Salary: £65,700 to £87,600 base salary, plus significant annual personal bonus, 13% employer pension contribution, 4% flexible cash pot, private medical insurance, 30 days holiday plus bank holidays. What would you get involved with?

As our mission is promote the adoption of modern software engineering practices, specifically accelerating adoption of modern engineering practices: DevOps, Continuous Improvement/Continuous Development, Cloud First, Agile, etc...

You would work in cross-disciplinary teams and act as advocate for Engineering, providing a voice to engineers within the teams, identifying and supporting your teams in resolution of impediments and issues as well as continually developing yourself with industry best practice and tooling used across their engineering team.

What do you need to be considered for this job?

Generally, you are comfortable in a hands-on technical leadership role, blending both solid leadership experience and technical expertise.

We welcome people from a range of role and industry backgrounds but do need to see the following as a minimum for consideration, 1) 5 years + Software Engineering background with experience in building large scale applications with at least one of the following languages: Java or C#.NET, 2) technical leadership experience and desire to help coach and mentor staff, 3) great interpersonal skills and a good communicator with technical and non-technical people, 4) Passionate about driving a true modern DevOps culture, 5) good understanding and/or experience of Big Data/data management.

Oh, and if you have any prior experience working within a finance function or with general ledger systems that would be handy, but please apply if you don’t!

Who are the General Ledger Software Development Team?

Our team sits within the Group Transformation division, in the Finance Value Stream, specifically within the General Ledger’s LAB area of the bank.  You will be responsible for supporting a vast and complex Finance Ledger landscape including the new Oracle Fusion (Cloud hosted ledger) as well as the existing/legacy ledgers and sub-ledgers.  In addition to this, the team also supports the Integrity application for Finance attestation, the Generic Interface Processes as well as the Data Reference Management tool.
