Our Production Support team are looking for a motivated and inquisitive individual to join our London team providing support to JPMorgan Traders in the Commodities, FX and Emerging Markets businesses. You will primarily be supporting our Athena platform, as well as associated trading and risk management applications used by the trading desks. Athena is JPMorgan's cross-market risk management and trading system that provides functionality for traders, sales people and operations staff globally, with a C++core for speed and predominantly Python for its flexibility.

You will also work in partnership with our internal Technology Developers to help deliver high quality software systems with a focus on stability, reliability and performance. We have access to the Athena codebase we are supporting, so can look at making improvements on an ongoing basis.

The role will be based in EMEA and you will be part of a Global 24 x 7 follow the sun team based in multiple other locations.

Whilst the core of the role is to support the Athena platform across a range of business areas (Commodities, FX and Emerging Markets) and offers great exposure to the business, we are a progressive team and we want somebody who:

• Is interested in DevOps and passionate about delivering engineering solutions that remove toil and improve the client experience

• Likes solving technical problems

• Wants to learn about the business here and grow their knowledge across many asset classes.

Required

• A STEM based degree, ideally Computer Science / Information Systems

• Programming experience in an object orientated language, ideally Python

• An open mind and a willingness to challenge the status quo

• The ability to communicate complex ideas effectively to audiences at all levels of seniority

• Ability to multitask, in a high-pressure environment while maintaining attention to detail.

• Experience of supporting trading desks in a financial institution

• Experience of Commodities, Rates or FX businesses

• Practical exposure and experience of using ITIL Principles.

• Enjoys working in a team and thrives in helping to create a collaborative environment

• Has a proven track record of influencing key stakeholders and building consensus.

• Comfortable with Technology Infrastructure – Hardware and Operating systems, primarily Unix based.

The successful candidate will join a front-office technology team that work in very close partnership with the Derivatives and Cash Equities trading businesses. Our current focus is on building out a new strategic data distribution platform. This is a high profile revenue growth initiative where the technology platform is a central part of the business strategy. Therefore our ability to deliver the right software is a key driver of the business’ success – we consequently have a high degree of engagement with the desk at all levels of seniority.

A fantastic opportunity to join an award winning technology group focused on a greenfield project. The candidate will be responsible for developing the core engine and services/API’s. Technologies utilized by the team include Java, Python, HTML5 (React) etc.
