This means getting the most out of technology, increase staff productivity, improve the customer journey and find smarter ways to help our communities to prosper in a digital world.
The council has a reputation for being innovative and at the leading edge in the field of ICT, especially in the use of Microsoft technologies, however we are now looking for a proven leader to build and enhance this agenda.
About the role
This is a key senior officer role and you will have the professional gravitas to advise on the strategic direction and lead the ICT function as one of the core underpinning enablers for the Digital Transformation.
You will be directly involved in delivering an ambitious Digital Transformation programme as well as structuring and managing an ICT department fit for the future within Wiltshire Council.
The opportunity to develop strategic partnerships in order to deliver on the agenda is significant, in addition the prospect to help re-imagine how the council not only interacts with residents but also partnering organisations such as health and the voluntary sectors.
About you
You must have a proven track record of managing a large (150+ staff) ICT department as well as active involvement in Digital Transformation projects and within a large, complex, multi-site organisation operating within regulatory and commercial frameworks with significant budget responsibility.
With substantial experience of working in partnership with a range of stakeholders, you will need to use your business and political acumen to proactively build strong internal relationships and also develop new relationships adopting a commercial approach.
You will be degree qualified in a relevant subject and have SIFA level 6/7 as well as Project Management qualifications such as PRINCE 2 and AGILE experience. You will be a strong leader, motivating and developing a large multi disciplined team whilst remaining calm under pressure with excellent communication skills.
The role is based out of County Hall in Trowbridge. Wiltshire Council offer flexible working and remote working. Trowbridge has excellent transport links with the train station less than a 5 minute walk and good bus routes.
