Joining the Retail Websites team in Stockton-on-Tees, as a .NET Web developer, you will design, develop and maintain the customer-facing website’s supporting systems using the latest tools from Microsoft MSDN and other leading providers.
How you will make an impact as a Web Developer
There are many ways for you to get involved:
- As a Graduate Developer, you will be working within an agile development team to develop our customer facing websites, web APIs and back office systems. You will be developing against a product backlog in Team Foundation Server and submitting changes to the build and release pipeline.
- Your day to day role will include implementing changes and new functionality with support from other team members. You will be exposed to all aspects of the software development life cycle and will be mentored by more senior team members who will support you in developing your skills. As part of our agile development team, you will be expected to take part in daily stand-ups and communicate your progress and impediments. You’ll be exposed to other areas of the business to help enhance your understanding of our products and services.
- In addition, you will also be given the designated time to improve your skills by studying new technology. The variety of systems developed and maintained means that this role presents a unique opportunity for candidates based in the North East area.

Essential Skills
- You should have an understanding of server-side and or front end web technologies
- Understanding of RDBMS, e.g. Oracle, MySQL, SQL Server
- Good organizational skills
- Strong written and verbal communication
- You are a proactive and communicative team player
- Exposure of XHTML, HTML5, CSS2/3 & ES6, OO JavaScript
- Understanding of coding best practice
Preferred Experience
- Microsoft Certification or Computer science-related degree
- Some experience of modern web technologies, e.g. React, Vue or Angular.
- Understanding of RESTful web services
- Responsive page layouts with dynamic content
- Understanding of Scrum methodologies
- Experience of .Net MVC, C#
- Knowledge of SOLID design principles and architecture design patterns
- CSS frameworks: LESS, SASS, CSSNext
- Experience of ORM frameworks, e.g. Hibernate, Entity Framework
- Experience of source control systems, e.g. GIT, SVN
