Infrastructure Engineer - 3rd Line

Infrastructure Engineer (3rd Line) Working in the company IT team primarily supporting and managing our Microsoft 2016 Thin Client environment with additional infrastructure responsibilities. This Role will involve migration from Application Virtualisation (App-V) and wider infrastructure/3rd Line support.

Key responsibilities

  • Maintenance and development of the supporting Infrastructure for the Thin Client environment. (Virtual Server Environments, MS 2016 severs, Printing environment, and associated AD and Group Policy environments)
  • Lead and own the testing, and deployment of applications into the Thin Client environment
  • To assist with supporting Technical relationships with 3rd party support partners and to continue to investigate and discover opportunities for continuing to evolve the Thin Client solution
  • To support the 1st, 2nd & other 3rd line support resources with inbound Thin Client issues and defects that require escalation, also to be final point of call.
  • Provide cover and assistance to the other Thin Client team members.
  • Continue to engage, learn, and then continue to pass on that learning to the service desk teams, both in house and remote employees
  • Give update calls on the project and delivery new solutions to the UK business.
  • To assist with out of hours activities such as patching, and upgrades in order to maintain and upgrade the Thin Client environment


Requirements and experience

  • Strong general IT support and experience required
  • Microsoft 2012 and 2016 Server Administration
  • Strong experience supporting deployment off applications in a thin client environment
  • MS & VMWare server hardware maintenance and design experience including virtual environments
  • Office 365 administration and support experience
  • IS Security and Risk experience and Infrastructure Experience
  • VM Infrastructure of the Thin Client Solution (have a strong understanding, and also the ability to maintain)
  • Provide training and support on new processes and how to deliver to the business
  • Excellent communication skills both internally and with customers
