Head of Engineering - Software
Essex

Help drive and deliver the technology strategy of a leading creative business in the heart of Essex.

No 'save yourself the commute to London' clichés needed for this role, it's just an out and out corker in its own right, the fact it's based in Essex is merely a bonus for anyone based locally.

You'll be responsible for the day to day running of a sophisticated engineering function, home to the development, design, QA, DevOps and project delivery teams. Provide technical leadership, implement and drive innovative strategies and methods, and help to develop and maintain the overall technology roadmap.

We're looking for someone who is a confident people manager, who can provide support and lead by example. You'll ideally have a strong software engineering background, with significant hands on development skills. This role will sit above the hands-on coding duties, but you'll need to be in-touch with the latest emerging tools and technologies. The engineering function build and deliver sophisticated cloud SaaS based solutions, so an experience of this would be essential for any prospective applicants.

Here's a look at the current tech stack to give you a flavour of the environment:
o Front-End: AngularJS, Angular, JavaScript, TypeScript, Karma, Jasmine, React.js, Node.js
o QA: Selenium, Protractor, Cucumber, Browser Stack,
o Backend: C#, .Net, .Net Core, xUnit, WebAPI, MVC, SQL, ORM,
o UE4: C++, Python, BluePrints,

Azure: WebApps, CosmosDB, Blob Storage, ServiceBus, Functions, webjobs
o DevOps: Docker, git, SonarQube, Jenkins, Azure DevOps

I've been fortunate to work with this company for several years and it's very clear to see just how important this hire is to them. If you are interested in a role where you're able to lead an already established and successful engineering function, but also have the opportunity to implement and push change of your own, then I'd be really excited to hear from you.
