Microsoft Software Tester with solid experience of testing commercial C#/SQL written software products required by an established Milton Keynes based Software House who pride themselves on building clean, reliable and robust software.

 

As an experienced tester, you'll work predominantly on 90% manual but progressing to a 50/50 manual versus automation split over 12-24 months. Using your ISEB qualification and wealth of testing experience, you'll get to work on software, web and mobile testing as well as open source tools and technologies working on the following:

  • Stress, performance, functional and scalability testing
  • Writing and executing test scripts
  • Running manual and automated tests
  • Testing in different platforms and environments
  • Writing accurate bug test reports
  • Providing quality assurance
  • Providing objective feedback to developers
  • Troubleshooting and problem solving
  • Designing test tasks to mitigate risks

Our client based in Milton Keynes is seeking a Mainframe Application Developer, working as part of a team that provides support and development to their Command and Control services for a London based Public Sector client. The team is responsible for maintaining a mission critical system that is a "system of systems".

Responsibilities:
• Participate in a Scrum team developing modern and innovative solutions for the client
• Undertake implementation work on different modules of the product as required and be able to switch comfortably between areas of the product when necessary
• Perform requirement analysis to create low level design artefacts for individual modules - translate requirements into designs
• Implement modules based on High Level Designs and as per the project’s quality guidelines
• Perform Unit tests and test developed changes in Integration
• Perform root cause analysis of potential issues reported on production as well as test environments
• Implement fixes to address defects raised on the system
• Provide status updates to Project Managers

Candidate Requirements:
Skills, Experience & Qualifications:

Technical skills
• COBOL development skills (on a mainframe is preferred)
• An understanding of hierarchical and relational databases
• An understanding of Transaction Processing is desirable
• A good understanding of ITIL is preferred but not essential
• An understanding of OS2200 mainframe technology is preferred but not essential

Soft Skills
• Attention to detail
• Ability to consistently work to high levels of quality
• Ability to follow standard processes & procedures
• A self-starter with the ability to work independently
• Good team-working
• Good written and verbal communication
